In the standard application of this effect your finale is to show four court cards, red black red black. Unfortunately, only two suits are seen. Your poker buddies will immediately bust this ruse.
My mega hint is to show four court cards, four different suits. But I'm not going to spell it out. I'll give you the hint, if your knowledge and willingness to experiment is up to it, you'll walk away with a nice closer to jumpin'. If you buy (or already own) Daryl Martinez' version of the Princess card trick, there are two gaffed queens in there which you will want to use as your court cards in jumpin' gemini. These two cards are at the bottom of the four card stack when you begin your jumpin' finale. When you do the gemini count, book turnover the first double (from the middle) sliding your right second, third, and fourth fingers back to conceal the index closest to your body, then turn the double over end for end then dealing the top card of the double face down to the table. Repeat the same actions when you pull the double from the bottom. Repeat all the moves on the next two cards though no doubles are done. I know this was long, and I revealed more than I had planned, but this is killer, diller stuff; especially considering all that has happened before the finale. |

Stefan,
Excellent idea!! I'm playing around with the handling right now. I wonder if this idea has ever been in print. I don't think so. This is the kinda stuff magicians fight over for credit. Thank you for sharing it. I'll remeber that it's yours. |

Bit of a tangent but if you don't fancy using gaffed cards Greg wilson has an excellent closer to Jumpin Gemini on his tape Double Take. Not his idea however he gives credit to the person question. All for suites are shown of the Court cards at the end. Brilliant

I have been performing this effect for about 10 years and I have never been busted on the discrepancy. The spectators are so blown away at the site of the first king that it doesn't even register that they are seeing the same 2 kings twice. Not to mention, you are covering the pips of the last one.

Of course you could eliminate the Gemini Count and replace it with the Virgo Move for a cleaner display and then use a One Handed Daley Switch to really have four kings.

I agree that there have been very few times when the spectator noticed the repeat of the same cards. However, even 1 time was too many for me. I began using the "Twisted Sister" cards to do the same effect. The only difference is that they are queens instead of kings. I also use these cards with my "Twins" routine. What a difference it makes.

Closeupmaster: there is no way you can use the gimmicks from Twisted Sister to do a Jumpin' Gemini finale; they have different colored backs. . .back to the drawing board, bro. . .

I have an extra set of cards that I found in a closeout sale at a local magic store. For some reason, it is the exact same set of cards, but the backs are opposite of the normal "Twisted Sisters" color. I don't know if these were a copy of the original effect, or just a mix up (there were no instructions - just cards an a green wallet). Anyway, I am glad I found them, because now I have 2 sets of cards and am able to do the trick in either red or blue.

Plus, you have to use queens and kings in this routine. If you draw attention to the suits of the Queens, then the spectators will expect the same fair show of suits for the Kings in which you have no gaffs for. |
