I am obviously excited by the various approaches for C/S Transpositions offered in recent weeks.
Each has a feature that might be adapted to other effects, so there is no consideration of "better than," just "other than." I will be trying some of AL's recommendations, but tend to prefer not using cards or objects to cover. I offer one based on something I used in my Medieval camp hopping days where the extension of a "naked" hand to reveal no weapon predated the handshake. The idea is that both of your naked hands can train a volunteer spectator to mirror your actions, leading to further "fist training, plus the "honesty" of having completely open hands. While most C/S effects have the performer's hands closed most/some of the time, here they are Naked except for the coin in full display on the fingers. No video is provided since I do not want anyone to try this without understanding all of the theory and subtleties involved. Instructions available from ken@eversway.com The key is whether you like the concept of performing with Naked Hands. (even crippled hands like mine). No difficult palming. Best for small groups by OK surrounded -- visibility an issue and not angles. As noted in other posts, the audience must be clear on what is happening and where each coin is. It may not suit everyone's style, but can provide a very clean alternative to your favorite method. I do suggest that you read AL Schneider's books on Deception before exploring this approach. STEPS. There is a suggested storyline running throughout 1) give the spectator one copper and one silver coin. English Penny and Kennedy half are fine. 2) extend both of your hands in Naked Posture, i.e. palms up, fingers together in relaxed curl and thumb hovering somewhere above or to the outside a bit. 3) have the volunteer mirror this posture. They will have the two coins in one hand. 4) move the copper coin to their right hand or silver to their left. One now is on each hand. You have nothing. 5) train them to close their hands into fist over the coins by demonstration of your hands. 6) have them place the two coins on your right fingers. 7) take the copper coin into your left fingers leaving the silver on your right. Display both coins on Naked hands side by side but a foot apart. You never close you hands. 8) place the copper visibly on their right fingers with your left hand and have them close it. Left hand is empty. 9) place the silver coin visibly on their left fingers with your right fingers and have them close it. (your hands do not touch) 10) clarify where each coin is while showing both of your hands empty. 11) they open their hands to reveal that the coins have changed places! 12) after they explore or show the coins around you proceed with another effect. NOTE: the story told after was often about how THEY did the magic with my help. Merry Christmas.

Those receiving instructions for this effect seem to provide a common feedback reply.
They feel that performing this way will make it difficult to perform other coin effects with more hidden actions. Can an effect be too magical? Can one effect create impossible expectations for the audience? I do not know. I am pleased that performers are thinking about such things.
