Hello,
I've recently been gifted a fair amount of money, and to put most of it to something I'll truly appreciate, I have considered purchasing a copy of Hilliard's Greater Magic (the Kaufman Edition). Ever since seeing the contents and significance of this book, I've been wanting a copy for myself. It's technique, theory, history, and what appears to be fascinating reading. The most reasonable price I've been able to find it for has been on Amazon. However, this is from a third party seller, and I would like to make sure I'm buying from a legitimate source before I make my purchase (or as legitimate as it can be, at least) Are there any suppliers that I could possibly contact? Additionally, does anyone have word of a place where I could find a copy a bit cheaper? The lowest I've been able to find it for has been 225-250 (I understand it will be costly regardless. I'm just making sure I can do the best I can). Thanks for any help! -R.S. |

If you are only interested in the card stuff, you might find copies of Hilliard's Card Magic around cheaper. It is all the card stuff from Greater Magic, same page numbers as the original. I have a copy I got years ago for pretty cheap.

This book would be a good purchase to make. Keep watching eBay. 175-200 isn't a bad price to pay.

Try Denny&Lee Magic Studio, I got all of my out of print books from there, another option is to get it in Magic Café Buy and Sell section, but you need 50 posts in order to access that section

I always check out Byron before I do anything. I just called about two books.

If I recall correctly, there was a '94 copy that sold on EBay a few months ago for about $175 as a 'Buy It Now'. I watched it for awhile, but decided not to buy it due to my limited funds at the time, I considered it a very good price for it's condition, had the dust jacket too.
I'm always checking EBay for a cheaper copy of Greater Magic (so I don't have to handle my 1938 edition so much) and copies of GM in various conditions appear frequently on EBay. I have seen the Kaufman editions occasionally, usually running around $200-250. So, if you aren't in a big hurry, keep checking EBay, I'm sure another copy will surface. Brian |

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. After looking about for a few weeks, I managed to find a fine condition copy of the 1994 edition for $200 (with good-very good condition dust jacket). I should have it early next week. I'm quite excited!
