I am doing my show 5 nights a week from November through April. Something interesting has happened.
I like most I video and sell the show. I don't give hard copies but rather send email links. It really cuts down on equipment for duplication and has not hurt sales one bit. I have done this for a few years. The resorts we work with are 5 star all inclusive and people are discouraged from even carrying cash. I sell the shows more for the people than myself. I do not have to make back of the room money as we are paid well enouhh. So recently with the advent of the ubiquitous cell phone camera a drop in sales has been happening. This year instead of worrying about payment we either have them do it through the web page or even just send a check. We don't wait for the checks to come in, we just send the link and hope for the best. The phenomenon is that the number of videos sold has increased. Not shocking really as technically we are giving them away. But people are actually sending checks quite dependably. Actual dollars are up. I was pleasantly surprised. While I recommend the video link for the product I am not saying you should do what I do with payment. Just sharing my faith in humanity. It is cool.

Like everything in marketing you need to test it. You can never really tell how a marketing decision will go. Others might find the same response as you have or it may be the opposite.
Another idea is to get their email with the link to a page and a paypal button which they then pay before being taken to the link. Or swipe card facility at the shows. Different methods for different hypnotists at different venues. All worth testing to see what works best. I personally would prefer the online paypal button as for me writing and sending a check is a hassle. But that's just me. Or swiping card at the show! I very rarely carry cash these days I use my card for everything. And I have four check books sitting there untouched for years! |

Yea they can go through the web page. It really is the easiest way no doubt.
I just don't like the hassle of having to keep up with who orders what and when so I just take the names, send the video and am done with it. Then when payment comes in, however that is it works great. Not really marketing as much as lazy I guess!

I remember seeing news paper stands I think it was Spain? They were unmanned and you took a paper and left the money. So I guess it works in other places too.
It is basic marketing Danny and if its working then fine. If it doesn't for someone else then there a couple of ideas above. But it can all be automated pretty easily these days anyway. For example some one swipes their card at a show they get an invoice sent out by email with the link for example. Automatically. It also saves them the hassle of writing a check and having to post it. It might even be less work than having to take their names! I am making around $80k a year right now totally on autopilot and I'm not really trying. Ive been lazy but this year Im going to really work to expand it. Internet has made it so easy to automate everything. (not hypnosis related though) |
