This is worth checking out and even taking part
The concept of "magic" is being used to counteract the destruction of attention and productivity from Infomania. http://project.wnyc.org/infomagical/ On the downside it is a further mangling of what "magic" is or used to be as none of the methods are "extraordinary" It is sorta like saying it is magical to get a kid to put their dirty cloths in hamper rather than on the floor. Yes, the mess disappears, but ... On the plus side may be insight in how to structure a magic presentation given the lessened attention ability and decision making functions of today's audience. Performance magic may gain in popularity (not YouTube emulation) as a means of training good habits and supporting interpersonal skills without an electronic pacifier. Even the concept that youngsters raised with an electronic nanny have little imagination and cannot appreciate the magic we aspire to as performers my provide direction for presentations. Just find growing support that answering a cellphone just because it rings in inappropriate may be a benefit. Just imagine an audience that actually pays attention to what you are doing. Magic! Please note that I am talking about appropriate use of devices and related psychological problems, and not the values of social media itself.
"the more one pretends at magic, the more awe and wonder will be found in real life." Arnold Furst

If one wants to do well in one’s game then one needs to cut out distractions and concentrate on one’s game. That means cutting out amusement and living a lonely life. It is tough at the top.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
