Ok, a few times, I have offered a days entertainment, plus tips to festivals for a set price. Sometimes, they take me up on the offer. Yes! I have been paid to BUSK!

They do this in the summer in Virginia Beach on the boardwalk. I've heard you have to audition. But they make out with decent money.. Though they would maybe make more if they were allowed to accept tips.

Various fairs and festivals are good for paid busking. You can use it as a negotiating chip, "If you pay me X I'll work and solicit tips, if you pay me Y I'll work and won't accept a dime in tips"
Miami Dade County Fair once paid me Y, and Y wound up being a lot of money. |

They used to do this at the Landing in Branson MO but you weren't supposed to do hat lines. People did anyways and they stopped it. Very sad

Danny, are you still working the River Market? I miss working out there, it helped me finish college.

Milwaukee tried paying buskers to add atmosphere to the riverwalk the city created. I think it lasted on summer.

I wonder why this never lasts.

By-the-way, Kyoki, I only perform when I can, not my full time job. Perhaps, when I retire tho,

Are buskers still working the NY subways? I saw some musicians there a few years ago, and it was a great addition. I noticed, however, that most people were in too much of a hurry to stop and watch. There is a well known story about a renowned violinist who took har strat played it on one of the platforms, and no one stopped to listen. She had a HUGE amount of hits on YouTube .

I love watching buskers of all types perform. (for that matter, I also love to watch pitchmen.) I don't know if I'm using the right word, but it seems to have a 'raw - unsophisticated' quality to it that attracts me like a moth to a light.

It's sad these paid busking jobs don't last and that there is that outlook on buskers. Hopefully you will be able to busk more often sooner Danny

Over the years, it's become evident to me that the popularity of magic, and the demand for magicians runs in cycles. We are now in a down cycle as evident by the few number of amagians seen on t.v. shows, and the low attendance at magic club meetings. Historically, magic has always returned and the demand returns.
