I admit it was not rip roaring funny, but I was impressed at the star power (yeah, admittedly many were more B than A list stars, but still) that got together to make a low budget movie like that. Depp in particular did a great job. And ALF! And the movie really did look like it came from that era. At least, it certainly reminded me of the shows from the 70s / early 80s.
Clearly not everyone 'gets' the joke, which is fine. Different strokes.
