I have placed a Six Foot Silk blending P&A prop and TWO six Foot P&A Silks in the for sale sections here on the Café.
I have many other silk props (main P&A) still in my collection including the FULL SIZE mis-made flags that Peter made before his death. I think I can safely say that silk magic is the best way to fill a stage or performance venue with unexpected color and size but packing so small and portable that is is a great tool for the creative magician. The problem is silk IS expensive -- so too many buy small -- too small to really amaze anyone. My experience has been is the bigger, more voluminous seeming the silk produced seems, the better the audience reaction. About the only exception (it is should not be done with SILK anyway) is the Slydini Silks, which is great for close-up. Anther problem with colorful silk work -- is that it CAN detract from the performer because it is colorful and unexpected. Yes it does take time and skill to pre-fold, load and rig, but silk does a lot more than shield dove loads and change color. So I guess this is my request that we get beyond the small color changing silks and the outmoded simple approach to 20th Century Silks (appropriately named) to look at new and better ways to use silk and silk products.

Hi Gregg!
Yes! To use that now "ancient" cliche! Silks "pack small, and play BIG"! In my book, I explain my "improved" Billy Russell loading technique for the MERV TAYLOR "TAMBOR", and, a very simple sw*tch of a GHOST tube, somewhat like ADE DUVAL'S. --A 72" Rice DRAGON from a 2" x 9" second tube! I also describe, in detail MY presentation for the T. FRANCIS FRITZ (FRANK DUCROT) century old 20th CENTURY SILKS. (MY PRESENTATION IS ANYTHING BUT OUTMODED!!!) It is spotted NEXT TO CLOSING, in my elementary school program! My 20th C. has an "O. HENRY" finish that gets a tremendous laugh, and a big "mitt". The basic routine runs about three minutes, but, can be padded out to six minutes when needed to fill time. The padding includes a fifteen foot string of small silks which "fills the stage"! I've used it for almost fifty years! --And, I DON'T USE A CHANGE BAG TO VANISH AN 18" SILK!!!!!
