Paul McCartney, Beck and Taylor Hawkins were denied entrance to a post Grammy party in L.A. last night because their name wasn't on the list. McCartney asked "How VIP do we have to get?"

Seems so.
That will teach McCartney a thing or two.

I have only heard of one of them (McCartney). So I can't comment.

I wonder how old that doorman is?
A (somewhat) related story: When I was teaching at Berklee College of music in 1979, one of my students was surprised to hear Paul McCartney had been in another band before "Wings." |

I can't believe Paul couldn't call on someone to vouch for him.
That Doorman will have a he** of a story to tell in the unemployment line. I guess Paul has a story as well. LOL -Mary Mowder |

Who reported the story? And was the criteria "VIP"or name on the list? If the latter, what part of your name's not on the list don't you understand, Mr. McCartney? I say.
... EDIT... Upon viewing the video, albeit without audio, it appears Mr. McCartney understood in fairly gracious fashion. Oh well, onward we go... Would have made for a less dramatic TMZ story if he'd got in, don't you think? As it is, seems a little much ado... |

I suspect Tyga had no idea who he was. (Or didn't care.)

They should be thankful for this little experience of life for us mere mortals.
Aside from that, where Paul goes ... the real party goes. |

I can't imagine why anyone would suggest a person loose their job for following their boss's instructions.
McCartney may feel he has a beef with the host/boss -- but never the doorman following instructions. In a photo processing business in Reno, Jerry Lewis stopped by to pick up some film his drive had dropped off earlier. It was busy with many customers at 5:30PM. He called out, "Miss, do you know who I am?" My wife replied, "Yes Mr. Lewis -- you are the third person in line." I would have expected any of my employees to do the same.

Don't get me started on Jerry Lewis. He was extremely rude to us when The Mamas and the Papas went out of our way, flying from Reno to Las Vegas and back, in-between our own shows, to perform for free at his Muscular Dystrophy charity event.
But back to the topic: There seems to be a hierarchy for everything, from library systems that book magic shows, to dance clubs, to political rallies or rock concerts. Years ago I did a South American tour with Peter Frampton. One of those shows was in Puerto Rico. Prior to our performance, we were hanging out backstage in our dressing room at a big arena. Cyndi Lauper was the warm-up band, and they had just finished their show. Cyndi came into our dressing room and started acting like she owned the place, helping herself to the refreshments. That's when Barbara (Peter's girlfriend, who later became his wife), approached Cyndi and said, "What do you think you're doing? You don't belong in here. Get out!" And actually threw her out! It was hilarious! |
