The number one reason people don't work out is . . . it is freezing cold.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

. . . time.

According to some commercial on the TV I have on in the background.

Do you think that that's true?

I think that the number one reason people don't work out is that . . . it's work.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

So . . . you finally hauled your lazy self off the couch and rejoined us?

Lots of good input above. I'd add that many people have never worked out at all, so it seems daunting learning how to do it.

Then, when somebody tries it they get sore and tired and easily give up if they don't have the drive to succeed.

What they need to experience is getting past the beginning stages to the point where working out is enjoyable. The benefits are great. Endorphins get released and you feel awesome afterwards. Stress is reduced. Your sex life improves. You feel stronger and more able to work and live productively. Clothes fit better and self-esteem is increased.

I'm no health nut- I eat pretty much what I want, a mix of "healthy" and not so much, but I have a physical job and go to a gym and love how I feel. I've had to add extra holes to my belts over the last year or so.

People don't work out because they haven't given it enough of a chance.

Or not. Laziness can sure play a part. And I hated working out for several years because I did it so much when I was younger.

What's that statistic about making something a habit?

I hear that the 21 day thing is a myth and that it generally takes 66 days to form a habit... Although I believe making a bad habit takes less time (like stopping for a doughnut or a sweet coffee or supersizing a few times is all it takes).

That's a good point about bad habits.

Although donuts and coffee are not what I would call "bad." Smile

Correct me if I'm misreading the photos, but aren't all three of the the above specimens now equally dead? Smile
