Where can I find a good Bill in Balloon routine?
Thanks for all the help on the muscle pass, I am having a great time with it, also I work on the Coast Starlight train here in LA an I was wondering if any of the Magicians who used to work on it are in the Café. |

Check out Mark Jenest's video Miracles While You Wait. There is a very good bill in balloon routine on it. As well as some other good items.

The Jenest's routine is named "Billoon".
As far as I remember, here is how it goes: First, the ballon is freely chosen and blown by a spectator. Then a spectator's bill is signed and disappears. The spectator shakes the ballon and one can hear that there's something in it. The bill is shown to be inside the balloon. |

I use this effect all the time.
I use it for stand-up shows, birthday parties, dinner parties, even strolling at a pizza parlor. The only venue this is not good is a sit-down restaurant. Since balloon piece fly all over the place you don't want ... you get the idea. I did do it at the pizza joint against my own better judgement but it was a much more casual situation and went over just fine. I have the spectator pick any balloon they wish out of my bag-o-balloons and I have them blow it up themselves and tie the knot. As I learned more about magic and how it relates to crowd gathering, and strolling, it's a great effect for bringing the magic up high, attracting attention, etc. Plus the spectators love it. They really do. And it gave me an effect to practice Double Crossing The Gaze

WR, you're correct.
I also put it in my pocket. I buy the balloons by the bag at the Wishing Well in California. I first bought black. Next I bought blue. Both I made sure were opaque balloons. About $9.95 for 100 count. I think it's a good idea to have at least 2 colors the spectator can choose from. Acutally, that is one of the very few effects I where deduced the method. Makes me wonder whether others might as well... Frank

DO NOT get the purple or blue ones from Walmart though. They are see through. The black ones are good. I will check with Loftus.

Have you guys ever tried a penetration effect with billoon...ive been doing billoon for a long time and at my school it got REALLY good reactions then at a party with my friends I began the effect like normal but instead of making the bill vanish I made it melt inside the balloon...it got a good reaction and I told them I would do it again...this time I used a SEE-THRU balloon and just did a retention vanish and gave the (so called bill) to a friend (he was a magician so he just played along like he was holding the bill)...i loaded the signed bill into the see thru balloon but I didn't let it go all the way into the balloon...i got the bill back from my friend and melted the bill inside the balloon and EVERYONE FREAKED...i still had 2 more effects I wanted to do but the reaction I got could not have been beter so I stopped....from now on I'm doing it as a penetration effect with a black balloon and a see thru balloon

I messed around with 'airtight' by Sankey using a signed bill that went into a pay envelope. Those familiar with the effect can figure it out.

I came up with a complete comedy routine I use constantly for strolling and stand-up shows that is very easy to do and a lot of fun.
No number 2 pencil, no balloon animals, etc. That just didn't work for me.

If you want to keep the balloon pieces from flying all over, why not drape a sheer nylon scarf over the inflated balloon? The scarf is similar to what's used in scarf juggling. Just pop it with a pin, through the scarf.

One fantastic effect bill in balloon is Prisendorf´s "FLOATING BILL IN BALLON". Absolutely amazing! Incredibly Ingenious! Extremely visual and very versatile!
Not a simple penetration but an incredible and impossible levitation!!! EFECT: You borrow a bill from any member of your audience. The bill owner crumbles their own bill into a ball and places it inside a thoroughly audience-examined transparent balloon. The balloon is inflated and tied. The bill is clearly visible as it RISES INTO THE AIR INSIDE the fully inflated and sealed transparent balloon. The bill rises, floats in mid-air and descends, all at your command! Even while the balloon is being HELD IN THE HANDS OD SPECTATOR! Pop the balloon and return the bill at any time. It super stunner will fool even seasoned professional magicians that have performed the traditional floating bill effect for years... KARDINI Brazil

Pavel has one with a signed playing card, but I believe it would work with a bill as well. He pops the balloon with a needle thru balloon type needle and POP the card is impailed on the needle. Looks nice.

Prisendorf's Floating Bill in Balloon is versatile? Man it's a nice idea, however most working pros won't use it... I know I would not. The set-up gets old real fast and just imagine having to do it every night after your gig, because the next night you got to perform it again, etc.
Also the method originally published in the manuscript for an exploding flash of fire when the bill is supposed to vanish from inside the inflated balloon WILL NOT work every time...I've spent a bit of money trying to pull it off. In the end it was a waste of money IMHO. Now for a signed coin or bill to balloon you might try finding a trick that was released back in the '80's I forget what it was called but, the balloon is transparent and the bill or coin can be marked. The specs actually think they see the coin or bill visually penetrate an inflated balloon. All may be examined in the end. johnny
