Did you want to include his documentaries in this landmark? I consider them separately but a lot of people include them with his "films". Excellent. Excellent. I'd say "Elvis: That's the Way It Is" is what got me hooked when it aired in 1987 around the 10th anniversary of his passing. "Elvis on Tour" fantastic also. I love behind the scenes stuff, process, see the wheels turning, you know.

Singers for me seem to do better in film than some other kinds of entertainers: Sinatra, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Diana Ross.
I've noticed that I often dislike certain stand-up comics in film, even though I like their stand-up: Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Richard Pryor in his non-concert films, and Whoopi Goldberg come to mind as performers whom I dislike in film. I don't know why that is. Brando as far as I've seen has had some bad performances, but never an uninteresting one; I could watch him all day.

Well, I just finished watching this. Finally. Been wanting to see it for a long time. Found it on youtube a few days ago. I'm not sure what I think of it- would like to give it another view. Would like to see it on a larger screen, too. I will say- Victor French! I knew he was in this- I'd like to see if I can find any comments he might have made about working with Elvis. I think Billy Roy did a lot to steal the show, here.
I find the scripts for most of these films pretty thin, unfortunately. I will watch it again, though, maybe on a different screen. edit-Actually, I just did a preview to make sure I posted the link correctly, and I think I might watch it here, next time- smaller view looks nice and clear. I wonder what it looked like on the big screen. A product of its time, largely, I think. Where'd the popcorn smiley go? 2nd edit- I forgot to mention TRACEY! With an e! |

I have noticed how Elvis fans think he is a great actor.

I just found this. It's nice and clear and I can see more expression from E in these clips. There were some pretty shots in the film- shot on location at Apacheland Movie Ranch in Arizona. Let's see if this stays up:

Well as an actor he would have made a good poker player.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
