Well this is easy to review.
15 great workable effects to use in paid performances. Buy it or you are nuts. that's IT ! Oh, you want a more in depth review ? Ok, here it goes. Disc 1-Back Palm Thank You Mam(Gary)- read this a few years ago but never tried it(although I do use a back palm in my close up work)It's good & I will try it Over Drawn(Chris) Commercial Bill Switch(i use one in my work) Very nice & resets. C.under Box.(Gary) Again I do a version of card under box but would recommend this to anyone who has never done this type of routine. It's very easy to do & has a wonderfull transposistion between 2 chosen cards which got me even though I knew the move. What is also good is that it uses 2 different chosen cards so 2 spectators are deeply involved. I especially liked Gary talking about the in hands version involving several people(excellent ideas here which I will try) Win a watch(Gary) love this & will use it at weekend. Coins Across(Chris)Although I don't do a lot of coin work I already have 3 go to coins across routines that I use now & again, but this is nice . Interlace-(Gary) Very good & the end fooled me for 2 beats & then I clicked.A very good worker though which I may try it. Jazz Routine(Chris)- Really good card routine. Disc 2.- Not Chosen(Gary) resets & very very useable. Made it up immediatelly. Joke Box(Chris) Got to try this. No Sleep(Gary) Saw this on another dvd-2 versions which YOU WILL USE. Wow! Most Likely(Chris) I saw Chris do this at a lecture & immediatelly started using it. It's based on a Paul Gordon effect but I prefer what Chris has done with the ending. 21 Again(Gary) Again this is in one of Pauls Gold Dust books. I actually read it before in a one of his paperback books & put an asterix next to it.It's also on the Gold Dust set of dvds. However I never liked the asking a question about if they could see it 3 times.Gary has solved this problem & also created a nicer ending in my opinion. My ending has allways been that I remove the thought of card from the card box which has been on show. The original used a down under deal if I remember it correctly. To me this with the proceedure of asking which packet it wa in telegraphed mathematics & I always thought there were better ways to reveal a thought of card.Gary removes it from his pocket & there are several call backs to it. Like this Gary . Thank you.(& thanks Paul as well). Sign Post(Chris) An impromptu Anniversarry Waltz. Use John Carey's Simple Fusion & Johnathan Kamms take on this but am really tempted to give Chris's version a go. It's really nice. Blackjack(Chris0 Nice transposition with a hook. Solidified(Gary) This is Garys take on Paul Harris Solid Deception which I must have read about 30 years ago(i think). Never made it up though. Gary has added mega important advise about the gimmick & put in 2 brilliant new phases. Made this up Gary. Excellent work M8. This is a fantastic double dvd set by 2 great working pros. Hats off to you lads. Thanks for putting these guys on dvd again Dave. Mike Donoghue |

I got this recently and I'll post a review when I have the energy.
Here is the thing, (why I bought it) Gary and Chris are sharing what they get paid to do. In my experience they aren't finger flicking guys and I relate to them. Plus, they genuinely seem out to share rather than profit. But I don't want to do a review just based on my viewing of the DVD. I'm willing to perform each effect and see how it 'feels' and the reactions it gets. |

I'm a huge fan of Gary and Chris's work. Almost everything they release is workable, real-world magic without major finger flinging involved. But unfortunately, I found 'Trick Soup' to be less satisfying than their previous offerings. The effects seemed like the Pontiac Aztek automobile...Bits and pieces rather thrown together instead of something new and different. My three favorites were: Interlace, Twenty One Again, and Blackjack Surprise. But even these tricks felt like filler compared to their best work. If you want to buy something of theirs with tremendous value then buy their E-book entitled 'The Forgotten'. Two of effects: 'Drawn' and 'Pseudo Card Counting' are absolute killers! I've been performing them regularly since I bought the book and the reactions have been terrific.

I did Twenty One Again tonight at my residency, and the card Under Box routine from the DVD, they are very strong effects IMO (but I would say that wouldn't I lol). That's the great thing about magic, like music not everything is to our taste I totally agree with you regarding Drawn and Pseudo Card Counting, both cracking effects! Kindest regards, Gary Jones.

Gary, no hard feelings. Honestly, you've given me so much "A" material over the years that I feel like I should be paying you a commission each time I perform! I will certainly continue to buy everything you release without hesitation. I've also been really enjoying "Upper Hand" from earlier this year. It went straight into my strolling set...Keep them coming!
