Dear Charles,
I have had this reply from my colleague: "This is a perennial question! I seem to remember that I was first shown the accordion, probably by Mollie Goldney, when we were at Tavistock Square, and I always understood that it came from Crookes, and was the one illustrated in his Researches. In that case it would not, strictly speaking, have been 'D.D. Home's accordion.' I have never come across any reference in the Journal that backs this up, though one would have thought there would have been some reference to such a transaction somewhere, e.g. in Council minutes," So the situation is still not completely clear.
