I haven't seen a review, but I have some of his other DVD's--Fooler Doolers, Encyclopedia of Card Sleights, and Ambitous Card. All of these are terrific, so if nothing else, it might be worth a caluclated risk. Good luck.

I have those sets. And I like the way he teaches. Just wanted to know how good the effects are.
Thanks anyway. |

I have a couple of his card revelation videoes (one on VHS and one on DVD). If you get this, definitely get DVD, as there are so many things to navigate through. He doesn't really teach any sleights or controls, but he does show you a ton of ways to reveal the card once you do control it via your favorite method. Some of the effects are kind of hokey, but some of them I use almost every day. I'd say they're worth the money, especially since you already know that you like the way he teaches.

Why doesn't it tickle when I tickle myself, but it still hurts when I stick a fork in my eye?

If you use the search feature and enter the words "Daryl" and "revelations" you will get several hits. Here is a link to one:

I own the 2 first volumes, and I don't like it. I like very much other materials of Daryl (so I am not a guy-who-don't-like-Daryl) but on this two tapes, I found only 4 or 5 revelations that could match me. And they are quite redundants with my repertoire. If you are a beginner, it could be fine, but I wouldn't advise those video. Unless you look for something in particular and you know it is on oine of the video.

There are about 20 Pick-a-card tricks in each volume, if you buy them all, you will find there will be a lot of similar tricks. For example, there are 3-4 versions of card through silks (but they look similar). However, I have to admit that there are some really good tricks there. I would suggest you not to buy all 5 volumes. Maybe just buy vol 1 and 2(I found that two quite fair)Don't waste your money on buying all 5 !

I bought one of these DVD's and was very disappointed with it.
Why? Because it's just a compilation of effects quickly shown and explained. How to put a maximum number of effects in a minimum time. I prefer a DVD with one or two effects that are detailed regarding presentation, subtleties,... It was not inspiring for me. That's just my personal point of view. |

It looks like people don't like this collection 2 much.
It's weird that Daryl is a real cards guru, but his only (?) cards tricks set, is not so strong... |

I believe Daryl's point with this was not to show a whole routine but simply to give various ideas on how to "reveal" a card given that you have controlled it.
Trying to sit and watch through all the DVD's at once would cause you a serious headache (if you managed to stay awak). If you are looking for ways to reveal a card, you may get some ideas from these. If you are looking for a collection of different card tricks, then this is not for you. Bruce |

I loved these tapes. I would not get them all though. I have the first three.
These are not complete routines and there is no way you should force someone to set and watch you do these one after another. Instead, use them as a tool for ideas. |

There are some GEMS in this series. His Tenkai version of Triumph is wonderful and the one I know use.
If I buy a DVD series and get one effect that I add to my everyday set, then it was worth it.

You really have to determine whether your personality matches that of the performer for a given DVD(s). If so, then you will probably get a lot out of the DVD. I LOVE Daryl's personality, so I get a lot out of it. I RESPECT Bill Malone, but, sorry, I just am not a match his style. I find Ammar great for explanations, but I can't match his performance style - I'm just not the same type of guy. etc etc Daryl's personality strikes me as a smooth kind of wise guy, but in a nonthreatening way. Contrast to David Regal who is very much in your face with his presentation.
So, with that in mind, I have vol 1 of Daryl's Revelations and highly recommend it. As a matter of fact, please see my post under the Words we use section, the thread about "Patter Problem." I give a suggestion as to how to use the performance part of Chicago Opener, the first trick in vol. 1 of Revelations. BTW, I far prefer Daryl in his card DVDs than the Fooler Dooler series which covers mostly non-card tricks. I feel his style is somehow a bit more aggressive in that series, and not as good a match for me. In any event, I wrote a script based upon combining the explanation moves with the performance words AND gestures. When I combined both, I found I had a winner with great response. I think Revelations 1 is great, and once I have it under my belt, I look forward to getting the subsequent DVDs in the series.
