This is what it sounds like when the doves cry. Thank you for the memories. (I grew up listening to him and admiring him...) Life is truly fleeting. May flight of angels sing thee to thy rest, my sweet Prince.

RIP. Interestingly, one of Prince's early proteges, Vanity, also died recently at age 57:

Very sad, I was a fan.
I saw a dance special once on public Television that featured only Prince songs. It was so powerful (The dance was beautiful too). I've never seen it again but I'd like to. R.I.P Artist. -Mary Mowder |

Michael Jackson and Prince are my wife's 2 favorite musicians.
She'll be very sad tonight. I saw him perform live once during the "Purple Rain" tour. Shelia E (who I didn't like until I saw her perform) opened, and it was an excellent double bill. It's been a bad year for rock stars. RIP Prince- you're in my top 50 list of musicians!

If I recall correctly, and who knows for sure ? I remember driving my little yellow bike up and down the dirt drive way at my Dad's farm with When Doves Cry playing in my head. I remember something like that. He was a tiny guy. And he's been ill, apparently. Too bad the way things slip through the cracks. Hindsight. Might be presumptive on my part but I'm just thinking out loud, as I do. Peace. |

I am not a real fan of Prince but I truly did appreciate his Artistry and Showmanship. I do enjoy and have a copy of "Delirious" Though.

I agree, was never a fan but appreciate what he did as a self-produced artist and against his fight with Sony when he became "symbol man". He did it his way which must be admired. RIP Prince.

"Prince himself wanted to clarify the situation on Saturday: 'Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.'"
"He never intended to perform on Saturday. There was no microphone stand next to his piano. He just wanted to demonstrate that reports of his dire health were greatly exaggerated." Http://www.startribune.com/prince-offers......5981801/ |

This is totally bad-ass. Prince with a funky-rock slower version of Let's Go Crazy with some Frankenstein thrown-in for good measure! The video won't post, so I'll just paste the link... nothing to see anyway... it's an audio clip posted as a YouTube video:

Oddly enough he is now truly "the artist formerly known as prince"
He is certainly a big part of the soundtrack of my life. Who doesn't tap thier toes to Little red corvette or Raspberry berette? _ |

I remember sleeping overnite in a ticket line to see hie Purple Rain show; and it was totally worth it. I'm much more of a jazz fan now; but I regret missing one of his last solo (w/piano) shows. You've no doubt heard by now how he was a master of many instruments; and as a guitarist, I was very impressed with a fairly recent solo he did for Ceelo's "Crazy". And the stories I'm now hearing from other musicians who were pulled (impromptu) onto stage to sing with him.... from Cyndi Lauper (remember "When You Were Mine") to Chuck D! Yes, Bigfoot, "part of the soundtrack of my life" too. The day after his death, I went to see a jazz band in Santa Cruz.... they did jazz covers of his songs, and it all worked! RIP Prince. Lynn

I happen to be in Minnesota last week. After landing we were grabbing lunch and saw the news. Saturday we went be First Avenue, the venue he played at a lot, they have stars with names of many of the artists who's played there. Princes was right by front door. Street blocked off and tributes piling up. We drove to Paisley Park. Not at all what I'd expect Princes house to be like. Off a busy county highway, it looked more like a modernistic warehouse. Parking was in state park across the road. Hundreds of people filing by to pay respects. The genuine love they have for Prince was beautiful to see. While I didn't listen to much of his music he was always an inspiration for being creative, unique, and a good person.
