I remember hearing someone argue that changing 1's to 100's is actually less "magical" or phaycologocally less hitting than changing 5's to 20's or something like that.
Reason I mention that is I am going to a bill change gimmick. Extreme burn or something similar. And don't want to use 100's. (Not for my everyday carry) so I was curious what I should use that will allow me to carry around less cash but still seem impressive. And I can't remember what combination of bills was argued to be better than 1 to 100's. I'd love to hear some input. Thanks |

This has been beaten to death in this topic, may I suggest you read some of the topics that discuss bill changes and Extreme Burn.
Here is your question stated differently, but should give you lots of information. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=210 |

Personally, I think the greatest reaction is changing from 1s to 100s. I've done it a few times while I'm on vacation and carry lots of cash with me.
Unfortunately I can't afford to carry all those 100s around in my Extreme Burn packet all the time. So now I change from 1s to 5s. I get a good reaction but not the same.

Changing whatever denomination bills into $100's is by far the best showing of the bill change. However many cannot afford to use bills that large, so in that case (assuming you can't afford to use $100's) use the largest bills you can afford.
Also, I will presume that you meant to say "psychologically" in your post; that's no doubt made up by someone who couldn't afford to use $100 bills! Jim |

Here in the UK I perform " BeSwitched" by George Hample taught by Michael Ammar on his Easy to master money miracles vol2 and goes down great here with excellent reactions for the cost of very little US dollar money....My patter starts with "when I was on holiday in the USA"......

"Switchcraft" by Gregory Wilson & Karl Hein have some very fresh options for those who want to use the Hundy 500, Extreme Burn type changes. Some can be made all in $1's! And they are usable with any currency! Check them out.

Buy some of the 'prop money' $100's - I've made multiple gimmicks using them and they look great. Can't pass close inspection, but sure is a heck of a lot cheaper !

Absolutely agree that changing $1 to $100 is more magical than changing to $5, $10, or $20. Why would a magician change to any other denomination?
But... If you can't invest several $100s in a prop (you can always take the prop apart and spend the money ) an alternative might be $2 bills. That is also very surprising since people don't see them often. Just go to the bank and ask for them. Banks can get them Hudson |

Yes, $100s have the punch and is probably the way to go. However, a more budget-conscious alternative is changing a handful of $2 bills into $20s.

On May 1, 2012 I posted a thought on the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum.
I would borrow a $5 bill and say I will change it to a $10 and instead I get a $!. I would look confused and then upset as I give the spectator the $! plus four singles from my wallet. |

That is still a lot of money to carry around (especially if your wallet is stolen, as mine was a few years ago), but people's eyes practically pop out (I've asked people, "does that hurt?". When ask for clarification, I mention their eyes popping out.

Did everybody see Penn and Teller last night? Guy changed a $1 with spectator's name (Tony) printed on it to a $100, KEEPING TONY'S NAME ON IT, and then let Tony keep the $100. Penn said this was a very classy move, and I agreed. (He fooled them, by the way....)
