Someone close to me (not Tom) has just had a Stroke. He is home now and it seems he was lucky in that his ability to speak is the only obvious effect. Still he was a very verbal quipster and this will change his world and ours.
I'm interested in home therapy options and speech therapy on computer. He is fairly computer averse but would rather do this at home so he will probably be willing to use the computer if I can make the case for it. He has a lap top but not an Ipad. Does anyone have any positive or negative experience with this? Any advice in general about how to handle not being able to talk in public? Expense is an issue but I'd like to know options. He has Kaiser but I'm not familiar with what they offer. I know there are probably better sources for this info. but the Café is always my first avenue of inquiry. (Like Bill & Ted asking History questions at the Circle K, LOL). Someone with personal experience might have more understandable advice. -Mary Mowder |
