If you have never attended "The Gathering of the Magi" you are missing out on one of the best magic conventions around.
Think family. This started out as The Inner Circle of Bizarre Magick's Gathering of the Magic. It is the longest running bizarre magick convention. Don't let that scare you. We no longer sacrifice goats. As the popularity of bizarre magick has mellowed, Joe Cabral decided to incorporate mainstream magic into the convention, while still keeping the bizarre faction alive. Friday nights are designated for bizarre magic. Saturday is for more mainstream. This convention has a number of lectures, a bizarre show, a close-up show, a works in progress and THE BEST hospitality suite ever. It's stocked with food and drink and it's the place where the magi gather to talk about magic, methods, theory, family, car problems, you know......to just talk. Everyone is approachable and when magicians come for the first time, they always ask "What took me so long to decide to come here." I found out about the ICBM and started coming at their 5th Gathering of the Magi. I haven't missed one since. It's the one convention I make sure I go to every year. Again, don't be spooked out by the bizarre magick faction. It's really the driving force behind this convention. It's the creative spark that gives this convention some of the most unique magic that you will ever witness. So come on out. Give it a try if you've never been to it. You'll be hooked just like the others. This year LOSANDER is the guest of honor. Todd Robbins will also be in attendance. I must echo Dans sentiments above! This convention is unlike any other and I am proud to attend each year. This gathering has it all. Plus you'll meet some of the best people in magic. I must ssay that everyone I have met in Southbury has become a friend.
I am also honored this year that I will be participating in the "Works In Progress" show, the "Close-up" show, and might just be telling a story at midnight in the hospitality suite with my friend "William Warlock"! If you are on the fence trying to decide whether or not to attend, just do it already. besides that fence is probably hurting your butt by now, jeesh! S. Patrick |
