Hi
I have a new routine idea where I need an Iphone from a spectator and I need to switch it to a dummy phone. Now the routine is that I say I have invented a new protection gel that is harder than steel. I ask for an iphone and put the transparent (...) gel on it. Then I put it in a Blendtec mixer. Start the mixer and it blend it complet to powder. Then a go to the second part of the routine. that's it. Are there any moves possible how I can switch it in a natural way. I know I can put it in a bag and switch it but why to put it in a bag? Thanks for your comments Best Regards Ron |

Use a table with a well or a servante. Have the dummy sitting on the table just ahead of where you will drop the real phone, and have it covered with a handkerchief or something (blender cup?) sitting directly in front of it. As you sit the real phone down (it goes into the well or servante), pick up the object that has been obscuring view of the dummy. This is done under the guise of showing this other object. The switch will be unnoticed and the dummy will be assumed to be the real phone.

You could have the dummy in the container for the gel (whether it be bottomless or have a more clever switch mech built into it. And do the switch while showing the gel or scooping some of the gel out of the container.

You could also switch using any flat(ish) item that can cover the phone. (book, envelope, small box, even a handkerchief). The basic idea is a common way to switch cards or decks. The dummy is in one hand, covered by the object. The real phone is in the other hand. As your hands come together, it will appear as if you change hands with both items. In reality, only the covering object moves from one hand to the other, screening first the dummy, and then the real phone as the dummy immediately comes into view.

Take a flat wallet and put the dummy phone under it. Flip the wallet open to remove the "gel" or a special plastic bag, etc. As you flip that open to remove it, you can switch the phones under the wallet. Putting away the wallet ditches their phone.

Here's what I do and it's not difficult.
I take their phone, while they're talking on it, and turn my back on them as I walk back to my stage. While dining this I slightly bend over like half the world does when reading their phone. My free hand goes in my jacket, reaches inside a pocket and retrieves a dup. The real phone is then put in my jacket. The misdirection is perfect "do you see that bucket of water on the floor". Not one person is looking at me at this moment, all they can think is "Us he going to do what I think he's going to do?" (And they're leaning forward to see of there is water in the bucket. That's all you need. It doesn't matter if the phone is pink and the one you throw in the bucket is black, all they see is the splash. Then I remind the audience of Rule #2... No cell phones. "That was just a test (hand the real phone back) "but the next time..... It's for real!!!" I wish I had some video of me doing this but it's amazing how fast people put their phones away so I can't get to them
