I purchased this and am completely satisfied. This particular Outlaw prop exceeded my expectations. In fact, it may be their best card-related item ever. The cards look authentic, the "Victorian" graphics are meant for a child but look creepy, which is perfectly fine considering the supposed era. Children were perceived differently then they are today - more like small adults - so slightly disturbing graphics (in appearance not content) may have flown by the producers. The paper stock is thick. The aging is not over-the-top. And you receive a very nice box to hold the cards in. It's quite durable and should last awhile.
I don't know how much I should say about the working except that you do receive a well-written routine called "The Vitorian Alphabet" by George Hunter. It's a definite plus, but the cards are a tool not an effect. One can perform countless routines with these cards as they are ingeniously marked. It may be one of the most unique and easy-to-use systems I have seen...and I don't need my reading glasses. This marking system used in conjunction with a quick memorization of the letters and the pictures they represent will provide the performer with endless ideas for how the cards can be employed. Outlaw Effects have received a lot of heat here, but in my case with these cards, I received them within 11 days after ordering them and they were well-worth the modest wait. Not sure if that was because I ordered early, or if that will be everyone's experience. But that was mine, and I have no affiliation with Rick or OE. I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the review of this, Wiz, as I had noticed that these looked quite nice, but had also given up on OE shipping schedule long ago and stopped buying there.
"Pay no attention to that strange man behind the curtain" (it's only "Doc Benjamin from the Amazing Wizardelia Wagon")

DocBenWiz...again. I can't vouch for what you'll encounter when and if you order from OE. I can only report on what I've received and when I received it. My personal experience in this case was great. More than that would be conjecture.

The aging is, as expected, marvelous. Unlike some other OE decks such as the Carnie Tarot, these cards are very flat and have a smooth surface that looks convincingly old but makes for an easy-to-shuffle deck. I love the marking - typical OE, well hidden but very easy to read. The box looks awesome and does feel quite durable. The interior is a little shy of 3/4" wider than the cards, leaving a bit of space for accessorizing, e.g., a candle or...? I think this a fairly unique Outlaw Effects item in that it can be easily used by performers who maybe aren't comfortable with routines involving spirits or are otherwise very "dark". I'm excited about the possibilities for thought-reading with some fun story-telling added - much more interesting than, say, a marked ESP deck. I really, really like this deck.

Very nice deck...
however until I hear everyone who is out of pocket is fulfilled...it goes against my principles to order. |

I received this deck today. I love it unfortunately it did not come with any instructions on the marking system or the routine called "The Vitorian Alphabet" by George Hunter.
I will message Rick at Outlaw and see if he will send it to me. 13 |

Yes, email Rick - he'll explain the markings and send a preliminary PDF with a routine outlined. My understanding is that a more complete PDF be sent later.

They look terrific! For that price it is kinda too bad it only comes with one instead of two, as is common with alpha decks... I've been using the awesome Revelation ABC cards for a matching routine, but would love to have this also for its easier markings on my 48-year-old eyes...

So I got the package today.
Cards. What can I say about them (in mixed company). Oh eff em gee. Wonderful stuff. Yeah – if you’re used to looking at readers, these are a breeze. That said, rubes will never catch it, unless you tip them. Worth every penny. Off to create something strange. |

Mine came this week; they are lovely, the m__king is ingenious. Since spectators will be handling my alphabet cards, I laminated my set.
If you use the thinnest laminate material, and then trim it closely and carefully, the cards will still fit in the period box that Outlaw sends with the cards. George |

I received these recently and also have to say that they are excellent.
The aging on this is very clean and looks very authentic. Designs are beautiful and quite creepy looking. Nice heavy stock (think DDT) with very easy to read markings. Very satisfied and received my order in about 2 weeks after ordering. |
