I purchased Leo Smetsers shells. I should received them by 1 Oct.
There are no other posting on this topic that I could find. The machined, weight, and the compactness for ease of carrying were the greatest appeal for me. I am going to use this for my Bob Sheet's boot camp. And I may end up carrying them with me all the time. Anyone else have a set? If so, your thoughts? Once my set arrives I will give more details/review. This is the best video that shows the set up-close: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZQKFbQalZA Here is the best video showing the routine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVo6HeJDSQw |

I finally got the shells and I made a video.
Very happy with this set. I plan to take them every where when I want shells on hand, although they are heavy. Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlHpturZiDM&feature=youtu.be Can you spot the Easter eggs? |

Hi Jerry I too have a set of leo's shells and was lucky enough to attend a one day course at Alakazam where leo taught some of the finer aspects of his routine. He is a really good guy and it was a great day. However I ended up selling mine due to the weight, this is no problem during performance but as I normally travel light carrying them around in my pocket caused me a pocket management issue. If I was using a briefcase etc this would not be a problem and the quality of the shells were fantastic. How do you find the weight?

I, too have purchased a set of these shells. They will stay in my collection, but I will never perform with them due to the weight of the shells. I cannot obtain a firm grip on them without too much sliding from my fingers.

Weight is the single greatest draw back to this set. It is a trade off that may not be avoided for that type of construction.
However, there are those who do like heavy shells. In the video I do mention and show the weight. That was the purpose, to show the shells and give enough information for a decision. Agree, I would not carry this in my pocket. I have a small briefcase that can accommodate Smetsers shells similar to , but obviously a little bigger then wooden one in the video. Due to the polished metal surface, not all the same moves are possible that a shell made of real walnut or resin material. |

I've got a set of these also. To put the weight into perspective have a look at the attached table.
