I bought TURN about 2 years ago. Like most of the things that I buy, I sit and look at it for about a year whilst waiting for some kind of inspiration.
I knew that I needed a lock that could be handled freely. After reading some reiews and playing with other locks - TURN was recommended to me. 3 days a weeks I do a family show in a forest based Holiday Resort here in the UK. with 120 - 130 everynight this lock was gonna some bashing. My premise was to have the whole audience try the lock which is on the front of a clear box with a prize inside. I instruct the audience that anyone can try the lock at any point. and if you open it you win the prize! SImples. This is all before the show even starts btw I have queues of children and adults trying the lock to no avail. It's entertainment whilst they are eating and waiting for the show. I then give the box to one person to look after during the show and we open it on the stage near the end of the show with random numbers (and they really are random).. Beach ball/monkey/rubber brick thrown out etc. The lock opens and the chosen person wins the prize.Whoopee Im sure that this doesn't sound like the best thing in the world but it works - it really works. Its almost a whole evenings entertainment! I've been using it now for over a year 300+ performances. It has been opened inadvertantly by 1 person - the roar from the crowd was immense- no biggy I reset the lock and did it again - just made it stronger. It was my own fault too - I hadnt 'set it' correctly. In my mind this is quite simply the best most reliable, handleable, robust lock produced. I can't see why you would need any other one. Once in a while a product comes along that is worth its wait in gold - and this is a heavy lock. Well done Jason Palter top marks 100% 5 stars etc etc Click here to view attached image. |

I just love this lock. I use it with a "Life and death danger" situation. In fact, it's one of my openers. I come out and talk about how the beginning of a show is awkward because we are just getting to know each other, and I'd like to see just what sort of audience I am working with. I then say - "By a show of hands, how many of you would like to see me do an act that involves the risk of life and death." At this point, the whole audience cheers. Who wouldn't want to see a live "train wreck" right there on stage? Four volunteers come on stage and I ask each one to think of a number and write it down on a post-it on a pack of playing cards. With each volunteer, I set the combination one number at a time. The last volunteer takes the post-it and pockets it for later verification. I then have a "dangerous" situation involving my "pet" (stuffed animal). The whole routine is very entertaining and funny. It is also very magical because I read their minds to get the numbers that unlock the lock.

The review that Graemesd gave for TURN is spot on. I too sit in effects that I purchase for about a year until I get around to for a bit longer than I would like to admit. I purchased TURN because I liked the premise of selecting numbers, VS using keys. I was also just curious. After examining the routine and the lock I have to say that this is probably the finest lock ever made; it can be handed out with confidence and the included routine KILLS. I buy a lot of magic, and a lot of it sits in my archive. This is one that you will be using again and again. This is a true worker in a forest of maybes. I give it a 10/10. I will be purchasing another one just to have a second lock. Something this good, you just want two!!! I don’t know Jason, and I am not affiliated with him, but he also has some other fine products on his website that Inam very impressed with. Check out TURN!!!

I saw Graemesd perform this recently when he did a lecture in Exeter. Having handled and tried to open the lock myself I can concur with everything that has been said above.
Excellent prop which in the right. Hands makes something as simple as a box truly magic. |
