Hey guys. I have an ebook out called Day Dream. A review came in for it, so I'll share it with you:
"Cody has presented a fantastic compilation of original peek methods. What Cody has put together is practical, real world, workable peeks for any and every close up scenario. Rotary Peek - This is a simple peek of a single folded business card which is very clean. Nothing appears to happen at all from their perspective. There's also no tearing which is a plus. This is definitely different than any technique I've ever seen. Something really interesting about this is it can be a quarter peek, a half peek, or a whole card peek. It's very clever and very clean and all with only one business card. Pressure Peek - Another very effective business card peek. This one uses a pack of business cards, but again, very good stuff. Their card gets genuinely buried into the middle of the business cards while your head is turned and yet, you can now peek at the information they've written. Once again, great stuff! And all with an ungimmicked stack of business cards. Scribe - This is a rather interesting peek where you're able to tell a spectator the date and state on their quarter "just by feeling it" behind your back. Only one quarter is used with no switch. You genuinely never seen the coin and yet, you're able to tell them this information. It's another very unique method. Perhaps a little too impractical for some, but could definitely be a stunner if you're willing to carry the "something" with you. Gaze - This peek seems extra impossible. The spectator writes something down on a business card, seals it in an envelope, and you're able to read their mind. This is a great method. It does take a little more set up than the others, but I believe it is well worth it. This one is bold, but in the best way possible. It is a great way to get the information if they've already seen a couple other peek methods in play. This will throw them off track. MBT - This is Cody's handling on a bottom tear peek. This is the first and last peek in the PDF which requires tearing the card. That said, this is such a clean and deceptive tearing sequence. Perhaps the most deceptive tearing sequence I've seen. From the audiences view, all appears above board. I love Cody's thinking with this. Teaching Method: Cody writes very simply which makes it extremely easy to learn these different peeks. He also provides multiple images with each peek which further helps to illustrate each peek. For the couple of peeks which are a little more difficult to understand in writing, Cody has provided a video showing the working of those two pieces. This video clears everything up and leaves all questions answered. This is a valuable product to the Mentalism community. I think all buyers will find something they can use in this release. Available here for only $18: https://gumroad.com/codynottingham Seriously, don't pass this up. It's good stuff. Madison" |

I am always down for a new peek method, but I do have a couple of questions.
First, have you verified that these are not already published methods? I mean, if someone sold me a b*llet sw*tch manuscript of 18 pages for $18 and I found out all of the material is already in Switchcraft (for example) or Bob Cassidy's work, or even Anneman, I would feel cheated. And legitimately so. I'm not asking whether there was independent development, but whether this is truly something new, as verified by others in the field who know the standard work on the subject. I bought Switchcraft because of the names of the reviewers and was truly delighted with what I got. I have purchased other things that turn out not to be worth my money because the descriptions sound amazing and the product is simply a rehash of something done 80 years ago. Second, and I hate to be a punk about it, but I don't know your level of experience. How much have you performed for real world audiences? Are you someone that the known and established professional mentalists know and trade ideas with or are you a solo flyer who is brand new on the scene with this release? In other words, do you have the time on the boards that will make me confident that your ideas are tested and have been compared in a lot of performances to other methods for the same utility? I clicked the link and there's nothing at all about you there. You may have a totally awesome new set of ideas, but without something more than a review by a first-name-only reviewer and a website is only a purchase link, I am not ready to part with my money. In other words, if this really is "a valuable product to the mentalism community," I want to know that you are a part of that community. -Patrick |

Mr. Woolery, perfectly relevant questions. I appreciate them actually.
I've established myself as a card magician and have been studying for the past 15 years. I have effects published with companies, but as a magician. For those 15 years, I think right about 13 of those I have been studying mentalism. I know being a magician/mentalist isn't a popular thing, but with time, I've found myself leaving the magic world to just mentalism. And yes, I do perform and I do it regularly. As far as the forums go, I use to have an older account many years ago then got this one and I've used this ever since. I don't have a lot of posts or interact a lot because I do search, I do read, and I do try to find the answers before asking and I usually do. The amount of info in the Café is a crazy amount. I don't like when people ask a question that's been answered in 13 different threads and I don't want to be a pest myself. Although sometimes it does happen. The effects. As the saying goes, as you know, "We stand on the shoulders of Giants." The Rotary Peek is new as well as the MBT which is a bottom tear. I HAVE checked. Dee Christopher said that the Rotary Peek is the best peek he's seen in a decade. The drawing duplication (pressure peek) uses a peek that's been done for a long time. Very long. My effect establishes the motions as how to cleanly get into the situation fair, quickly, and easily to make it simple and direct as possible without gimmicks. Gaze is an effect that I hear Sudo Nimh had created something similar, so I bought his effect "Hidden Hand." What a wonderful trick he has created! But while there is some similarities, it is different. I don't want to give anything away about Sudo's so if you have any questions about it you can PM me. I still wont go into how his works, but I can go into greater detail about mine. Scribe is something that allows you to tell the spectator the state and or date of a quarter. I know this gimmick has been used in another effect or two, but in a different way and a different setup. Any questions and I'd be happy to answer. |

One more quick thing. I do need to note that this ebook is for the performing mentalist. Two of these effects are to be performed for an audience.

I could have been more clear, but what I mean is that they aren't designed to be performed in a close up situation. Its intended for a small crowd of people or larger.
