I don't know if we'll ever see a review show that is completely unbiased. Even the shows that are put on by magicians not affiliated with any shop, may feel - even subconsciously - some kind of allegiance when they are sent a product for free. I've seen some magicians review products which they have purchased themselves, and this does seem more honest.
I like the WPR. I realize the show is sponsored by a shop, so I take the reviews for what they are worth...good advice from working pros. I agree that they don't review WMS products and that is to be expected. Those items should be scrutinized by another source, not by the source who produced them. However, WMS is in the business of selling magic. So to have them sponsor a show that trashes products they could be making money from, gives them a level of credibility which keeps me coming back.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Indeed
Also them not reviewing their own products is a much fairer position then Alakazam or Saturn blogs / shows are in I remember back in the day reviewing a 3D lemmings games for a certain computer magazine, I gave it 7%..... It got bounced back to me, as the game company had five pages of advertising spend per issue I refused to change the review They kept my copy, but changed (not the bad review but the score only) to a 70% score There is no way anyone can 'win' in doing a review show like WPR but I think they do an amazing job of it, and the bottom line for me is I enjoy watching it Sadly, for them, I've never bought anything from their shop... But then I've never seen a show (and I have watched many) while their worker of the week was still running, so you never know... I might spend some money with them soon.... |

Whether or not WPR slate a product or praise it, I think most of us here watch the show and make a judgment based on what we see, rather than how much Sean and Dave like it. I have seen dozens of tricks that they have given 90+ per cent to but have not been tempted to buy them; similarly I've seen stuff that they have not liked and thought I might find a use for it.
If it's a WMS product, they do say so; and I've watched segments where they say they won't give a mark for that reason. Anyway, what's with sean and Wayne in this episode? They look like a homeless guy and his social worker. |

Why's Wayne in the episode. He's usually only there to peddle his products.
How did perpetual puzzle get 'worker special' and 90 - 96% ? It isn't even magic. It's a lame puzzle. What's happening ? |

Sean was all neat and groomed previously, maybe his new marriage is not working out. She had him clean up for the wedding, and now he has a lot of long hair under that stocking cap, and dressing like a homeless person. Is it really cold and snowing in the U.K. now?
I agree, the puzzle thing leaves me cold, where is the magic, I bet most can't even explain why it works. The dollar bill a few years back was more popular here in the U.S. You show a puzzle and solve it, where is the magic for the magician to get any credit performing this thing. The best thing was the add with purchase, the DVD Stand Up Magic by Johnson, but Penguin Magic does not have it listed on their website. |

I have to agree to what most are saying. I think this is one of the weakest review shows iv'e seen on the WPR.
As Bill and the the others have said why the tenyo products got such high marks, and also Wayne is there to plug the Lecture dealer dem's for the World magic shop. Regarding the tenyo products if you look on their facebook page they tell you and show you the vast amount of stock of these items that have been delivered after waiting for customs to get them clearance. And that's why you will hear wayne and sean keep mentioning this would be good for christmas time when sitting around the table etc etc, So in my opinion this particular WPR show is aimed at marketed magic to buy for presents....ie when sean says ideal for beginners. Also 90%+ to WPR means they will use it in their working repertoire (Could you see Dave doing the puzzle) at one of his professional shows !!! The only appeal on this show was The journey by Matthew Johnson and the worker special by Matthew wright World Magic Shop 17 November at 09:34 · At last customs released our shipment, Perpetual Puzzle shipping today. Get it here: http://www.worldmagicshop.com/perpetual-puzzle-by-tenyo/ Graham

I apologise for this thread
as these comments should have gone onto the episode thread, as now they will be lost [to that episode] as this thread falls down to the obscurity it deserves but I did find it interesting that the [puzzle] worker of the week – was almost Dave and Sean ‘daring’ Wayne to put it into his professional act if it were truly a ‘worker’ there would be no need for the - I bet you don’t – video it if you do – etc also the video of the performance is a great way to promote the puzzle in another show… and here’s the film of Wayne doing it in his act |

I'm sorry. But in my previous post I meant to put Matthew Johnsons worker of the week and Tom wrights worker special.
My apologies. Also Duster if you contact admin/mods they may move your thread to the appropriate place. Ps... don't put it latest & greatest if you know what I mean. Lol Graham

Correction - Dave talked so fast, I mixed up the names. I was Tom Wright's Stand Up Magic DVD that looks like the best bang for your buck item. It is a Worker of the Week free item, so if they have any left, order The Journey by Matt Johnson or the Tenyo Puzzle and get this DVD Free.
That is a $48.80 dollar value listed on Penguin Magic. They should not run out of stock, as they produced the 2 DVD set. |

Duster,Duster have you been reading the latest posts. Other people now see that it is a sales show. 90% for Children's magic. I bet that is going into your magic box.
Its also OK to talk down to me. I see that is a sign of lack of intelligence. All the best with your toy shopping. |

Dave and Sean know that the Tenyo Products are collected by many magicians. Thus the review and high ratings. There are a lot of collectors in magic. Look at all the special designed decks they make every month, they would not be making them, if they did not sell a ton of them. Same goes for Tenyo products.
