I also didn't get the headphones that were shown in the video.. Mine have the sound bar close to the bottom so you can't really move it as shown and glue sticking out which makes the effect look not as good, I love the effect, just wish I got what was shown.

I have the same issue with the "misplaced" volume bar. Second time I purchased something from Ellusionist that is totally different from the advertised stuff. Same was mit "Stay Cool". I got the cheapest sunglasses instead of the ones shown in the demo. Quiet unsatisfied with those purchases so far.
so how to fix the problem with the volume bar?! Quiet upset what I got for that price. |

Shame to hear that people are unhappy with the location of the volume bar. There is an easy fix solution which would cost £2 and allows for other effects so please feel free to PM me with proof of purchase and I will send you a link to the material required. I understand from a customers perspective that this is not ideal and my apologies for this but I have little say on the production process.
I'm waiting upon a shipment of Ricoord's from Ellusionist so I will assess what the gimmicks look like and then try and offer a better solution once they arrive. |

Also have the sound bar far too low and the package was missing the extra piece for that effect

I was so impressed with this when I first saw the advert that my finger was hovering over the buy button...but after watching the review and reading the posts on here I am so glad that I never pressed that button. If I could just purchase the gimmick for performing the borrowed note and headphones then I would buy it instantly...this young creator obviously is very talented but I feel he has been badly let down by those who have produced this for him. If anyone wants to sell me the gimmick to perform the borrowed bill please let me know

I wouldnt put this down, they are some pretty cool tricks that can be done it's just ellusionist !@#$%^& up on production once again.
Just a note to other creators, please stop using ellusionist to produce your effects, all they do is give the creator a bad name. There are many other companies that can produce your product properly, maybe ellusionist pays better but sometimes it's not always about money..... Kieran |

I found a solution to the problem of the sound bar being too low to do the moving sound bar, simply execute the method from the other side, and you still get the movement, and a clean display,

Hi everyone,
We have had some great feedback from magicians about Ripcord. Here are a few quotes: "Fun, organic magic for today's generation" - Troy "Tom & Ollie are two of the most creative thinkers out there at the moment!" - Ben Hanlin "Tom & Oliver are an explosive duo, they have created a true modern day classic that is nothing short of amazing." - Nicholas Lawrence |

Hey peeps
I am really considering this effect for social media. I am gathering some effects that are great for video to use on social media to promote Magic in my bar. But I would really like to perform some effects live as well. After reading through this thread my biggest concern is the quality of the headphones. I have the real ones from my iphone. How similar are they? 1-10? Have any other issues come up? An update from the creators would be cool too!:) Thanks -Matt

I've still never got a good gimmick. I have sent countless emails to ellusionist and just am not getting a response which is a shame. A great effect but poor gimmick at least in what I have experienced.

Your honesty is really appreciated. You were talking about the volume bar being misplaced. What do you think about the overall quality and look of the headphones?

I finally decided to order it when I saw it available on a local Website. It arrived today. Here are my first impressions:
Packaging: The headphones come in a regular case, very similar to the one the originals (Apple) come in. The case was just wrapped in some clear plastic and taped. I was expecting at least what was shown in the pictures on the Ellusionist site. There was also a piece of paper with a link to download the teaching material. Product: The headphones are of course not Apple quality but overall the quality is good. Some parts of the gimmick do look low budget and there are some hardened glue leaks here and there. These aspects do not worry me though because as stated before, if you keep a little distance they will pass as normal headphones - no problemo! The volume bar seems to be in the right place. Conclusion: My first impression was pretty bad when I saw certain parts of the gimmick. Then I started watching the video material and got excited about the possibilities. The fact that there are things you need to put together on your own is just shameless at that price. They could have easily included everything needed to perform what they teach! Which brings me to my biggest letdown: the last part of the gimmick is missing! I also paid $52 plus shipping because it is imported. So to perform everything that is advertised I have to go out and buy some stuff now and start making my own gimmicks. Could have just put out a DVD. I hope this helps someone make a decision about purchasing this product. -Matt

Ripcord – Tom Elderfield
Product description: Ripcord is a gaffed headphone which will allow you to do several effects and another gimmick so you can do the headphone through bill with borrowed ones! This is a project led by Tom Elderfield and produced by Ellusionist, it’s perfect for street magic and I’m sure some of you will find a use for it. Versatile, practical (for most effects) and easy to carry, let’s find out if this is worth the asked price! Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $39.95 and you can find it on Ellusionist Website. What you get: You get a regular packaging for headphone, which looks like Apple ones. On the packaging, you have a link in order to watch the explanation video, done by Tom, the sound on it is horrible but you can still hear what he is saying. 3 mains effects are taught, the card to headphone is the least practical for me, maybe good for stage or instagram. The gimmick is well made, you get 2 in fact: the headphone and an added one for the headphone through bill (which is my favorite effect by far). I didn’t receive the extra piece like he says in the video, I don’t know what happened with this project but there was something missing for me. Overall, I think the effects are quite good, but the headphone through bill is worth the price alone. Teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgNs9xZ-cYw The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end. THE CONS: My package was missing one part which is not cool, every package should come with all the necessary bits in order to perform all the tricks taught. The card to headphone is not practical, you need to be hidden when you do the get ready, so it is only good for stage or with a camera. THE PROS: I like what they did with the gimmick, the idea is very clever and I’m sure you’ll come up with many routines using it. I’ll say it again: the borrowed headphone through bill is a genius idea, the gimmick is well made and you can add it to any white headphone. I love the concept, it is just a tiny bit too small to be more impressive but still, a solid trick. The bitten and restored volume bar is good too, but I didn’t receive the extra volume bar so I had to come up with another solution for this trick which works pretty well and doesn’t require any extra part. The headphone provided don’t work but that’s cool because you can put them in your pocket without the fear of breaking them. Overall rating: I think the whole concept is good, some tricks are better than other but the headphone through bill is definitely usable in the real world, so just for this trick, I give 3/4 hearts. As for the difficulty level, you have to get used to the gimmick but nothing hard, 2/5 stars. Similar products: Key and Sharpie through bill are common, I think you should check Ignition by Chris Smith.
