I just got this and so far I like it. The best use is the super visual coins thru glass table-top. There are several tricks with it. You can do a bitten/restored coin with it too, although I prefer the "rub away" presentation that he shows on the DVD.

I have used the Butter Coin for about two months now and I have to say that it is a great coin to add to your "tools". You can achieve some nice visual effects with it but like most gaffed coins, it can't be over used.

There are several posts on the butter coin. Try a search. Some are good. Some are bad. Been wondering about this one for a while.

I did not like the quality personally. I guess I am picky though.

The effects on the dvd are very good but my english 10p coin could have been made a lil better

That sums it up pretty good, CaptainCaveman. The DVD is great is you've never used a f**ding quarter or similar gaff. But it isn't the best made coin. In good lighting, you can see the gaff from several feet away.

Does it really do the work of a flipper?

I would say it does not replace a flipper, except in VERY limited circumstances. My biggest kvetch is that you have to buy the DVD over again if you need a spare- and I always like a spare handy when I'm working.

This coin is very badly manufactued. Go buy a flipper coin or just get david roth expert coin magic book. Way better than the butter coin.

I have been using butter coin for 1 month and let me just say it is good, but not great. It is very good and is easy to do. It gets great reactions especially the signed quarter through glass table. The only thing that brings it down is that is uses half dollars, so it is kinda uncommon to see them around and it looks kind suspicous.

I disagree, I like the fact that it uses half dollars. I've never had a spectator figure out any of the tricks that I use butter coin for.
A magician isn't defined by how many tricks he knows, but how well he has mastered them!
