A friend recently asked me in a PM. my approach to creating stories. The question tool me back to when I was a
Sophomore in High School English class. We would sometimes be tasked to write a creative story. I wrote one called'In The Eye Of The Beholder'. It did not go over well, being too graphic and troubling for the teacher. Even the class looked at me differently after that The tale was about a Young boy who lived with his grandmother. She was a strict woman who did not suffer fools. A product of the great depression, toys and wasting time playing games did not sit well with her. The boy enjoyed shooting marbles with his friends. His favorite 'Shooter'. a greyish-blue sphere wha claimed the cats- eyes and Mibies' of many a classmate foe. When the boys grades began to slump, Granny, it seems took his prized 'Shooter and secreted ut away somewhere. Studying trumped plating in her world view of things. Over the next few days, the boys anger grew to the point of rage. The old lady had no right to take it, As the old woman sat in the parlor, the rocking chair creaked a bit as old hands knitted with youthful skill.. The boy saw her enjoying her hobby, and it triggered an attack no one could comprehend. He went around to confront her face to face, She stared up at him in disbelief as he pulled one of the knitting needles from her hands. within the gaze of her catarac- haze grey blue eyes. The boy saw only his purloined shooter tucked safely into her skull. With one swift ripping thrust, he reclaimed the gleaming jewel of his collection. needle looked. The faded lapis and opal object near its tip shone in regal splendor. Tried as an adult and found guilty, he and his shooter would never roll free again. Drilling a hole in a realistic eye from ebay, or perhaps approaching Doug Higley might be right for you. Then again. you might not care for this tale at all. A sick mind may be why I came up with it when only sixteen years old. Kotah |

Nice, Kotah. Maybe not for the general High School English class, but fantastic for Bizarre folk. See folks, Kotah is way ahead of his time. Here lies proof.

A fantastically grim story.

Pretty good story. It has kind of a "Tell-Tale Heart" thing going on it...

Seance thank you for making time to comment, Iam glad you liked it.
And thanks to you all for your kind words. As I look forward to days in Summerland, it is good to look back at days of youth and fun. At 16, I had been voted in as my high school Junior class president. Sans any concerns about recounts, or an Electoral College. Best to you all, and holiday best. Kotah |

Kotah,
Great story and a ton of fun. I hope your 16 year old self was fairly chuffed when he came up with this. |

No sicker than a similarly themed Poe story that springs to mind.

KOTAH,
I understand your classmates horror and your frustration. I, too was asked to write a paper for science class in the 5th grade but when I described to the detail what had been my fascination, forensic autopsy, I was sent home with a failed grade. Seems the other 11 year olds and the teacher did not share my fascination for the subject. I probably made the mistake of demonstrating my lecture with a road kill cat I had picked up the week before. However, watching the girls throw up and the jocks cringe in horror, it was worth the price I had to pay. It is this experience that taught me, "Death is never having to say you are sorry!"
