I am creating an effect that requires a section of paper to be resistant to liquid. A coating in one spot. It is on paper and is a close-up effect. It does not need be held up to light, but it must not create a gleam as it were. I have tried various glues, waxes and sprays. They all stain the paper.
If your suggestion works and I use it, you will receive the effect for free! Any suggestions? Vince

There is a product called NeverWet. That might do it.

I am afraid Jaizon that NeverWet does leave a visible residue. I have used that before on other effects.
Thank you though.

May be thinking the other way around might help: could something be removed instead of added? Like splitting a card (but then not with a card ). Just brainstorming.

Hmm. Scotchguard? Good idea. I will look into that.
No, nothing can be removed. It is only paper, no card stock.

I'll have to try this myself, but how about clear matte nail polish? I've used it to gimmick a pencil to not write on paper, but look like it does.

I sent a suggestion in a PM as well, a very old method for water proofing hands.

Could the paper be folded into quarters or other square sections, so that only one section could have the solution applied to it? The creases/sections could disguise the fact that one section has the added substance...

Working backwards could you coat the entire paper so that it is glossy but only a portion of the glossy part is waterproof?
