Any famous wizards get into magic around 30 or later in life? What's your thoughts on starting later in life rather then in ones early years

Well I am not famous as a wizard. I was about 30+ when I started to look seriously at magic. I was working with a magician (Sean Goodman) we got chatting. I like the way he warmed up the audience. So I thought it would be a good idea to recommend him. I ask how much he charged. Sorry I haven't said I am a mobile DJ. When he told me his price I looked at how much kit I had carried in. He was charging more than me I had to work longer. That's when the penny dropped I thought I should look at magic again. I still love working as a mobile DJ. One day the heavy kit will be too much for me.
I don't get as much time as I like to practice. I have 3 or 4 tricks that I preform well. By starting later in life I bring other skills to the magic. Although I don't do finger busting slight of hand. I bring my skill as a presenter. My experience of working as a mobile DJ. Gives me the skill to handle a live audience. I am also a radio broadcaster, giving me presentation skills. Before I did that I worked in a shop. I learnt from that how to interact with people one to one. How to go up to people and start a conversation. We wasn't allow to say to the customer "can I help you?" We had to find ways to start a conversation. Much the say way that you might walk up to a table. So in my opinion starting later in life can be a benefit. I am sure that you can map your skill set across to magic. |

Well I am a Massage Therapist. Practicing slight of hand has helped my hand sensitivity. Being legally blind I am always reading and trying to learn about body language and communication. Seeing as we usually learn by Watching our p parents and loved ones. I can't remember what got me into magic a year ago but I think it was learning new skills. How this will play out in the future I have no idea. I've been working slowly through Card College and studying the Cups & Balls.
