Heres how the move goes:
Magician tosses a coin into the left hand, but when the hand is opened it is gone. The coin could really be seen when it is tossed and both hands never get close to each other. Has anyone seen this? |

Sound like the "Toss Vanish" by Albert Goshman. You can find it on page 145 of "Magic by Gosh"

Joe could be right about the Goshman move.
People swear they see the coin going. The other posibility that comes in mind, could be the "upside down topit". Which has nothing to do what many think of when they read the word topit. I would have to see it to make a guess. (I love to be fooled and sometimes try to wear the hat of a spectator and enjoy the experience.) Harris

Sounds like a goshman vanish...the same vanish is used in The Ivory Connection - short sleeves and completely gone

You can do this via sleight of hand. Really toss it into your other hand and "show" it empty.
Here is a quick example. Magicians familiar with only Bobo's book will be able to tell what I am doing for all 3 I would assume. |

He tossed it in a straight line, not like the one inside the video and somehow the coin appeared back in his right hand

Yep. The coin you saw was in your mind Sonny. The magician created the right circumstances for you to perceive a coin that did not exist. This is the basis of many a good trick. Things ain't all they seem Sonny

I would agree with Partizan then, Goshman toss vanish.

You don’t get it! Dan could have tossed that coin straight across or even had you toss the coin to him and the coin would have still vanished. The toss has nothing to do with the vanish. You have been given at least six solutions to the miracle you saw. Frankly there could be a dozen more solutions.
It makes no difference what the method is! The effect is the same. Your first post had a coin tossed and it vanished. Then when you were given solutions for the vanish you added that it reappears back in the hand that tossed it. Most of the solutions recommended will work for the trick. Pick one and learn it well and you will be performing the miracle. And as Partizan is suggesting, you probably don’t remember clearly what you actually saw. You mind has filled in several “gaps” and you are remembering an editorial at best. By the way, Killer tape Dan, I have watched it a dozen times and enjoyed watching you "work"!

Thanks for the compliment Harry, I just flipped on the video camera after reading this thread to demonstrate a few ways of apparently doing what was asked, didn't think it was much of a show.
A note to those watching: I think this stuff belongs inside a routine, not as a stand alone demo like I did - a one coin flurry would suffice. |

it could also be the Bounce Vanish. Don't you think?

Thanks Louis,
Eric - your 100% right, I forgot about that. For those who want to see what the Bounce Pass looks like, Check out Doug Conn's online video on it. He teaches it as well for those who want to learn it. |

That sharp slapping sound that he gets in the video is nice. I never used to get that kind "SMACK!" when I did that move. I haven't used that vanish in a long time, however I think I'll dust it off and use it this week.

I think you all are on the right track. Its either the bounce vanish or the goshman. Havent seen to many others that allow you to look so clean with short sleaves. Maybe he used the raven, ahhaahha
