When I was a teenager there was a three year old boy, Michael, that wanted to play with the bigger kids. For us, he was always in the way, so we'd tell him to go tell his mother that she wanted him. He'd joyfully run along and return in about half an hour with the reply, "My mother says she doesn't want me." We'd encourage him to go ask again and again. When we were grown, we didn't think about Michael much until we saw a report that he had killed his mother because, according to him, "She never wanted me."

I once had a guy tell me he was afraid of his girl friend's father. He didn't explicitly say why, but I sensed it was because he was always late getting her home. We both know the worst thing he could do is drop her off and just leave, so I shared a dating experience of mine. Her name was Janice and she was a beautiful girl. Long flowing hair, hourglass shape, a smile that was too tempting, and a personality out of this world. The only thing Janice was missing was two legs. Seems she had lost them in an unfortunate motorcycle accident, but that didn't deter me. When I went to pick her up, her father wheeled her out to the car and made me promise to have her home by 9. After assuring him I would, I placed her in the car and put her folded wheel chair in the back seat. We went to dinner and a movie and afterward it was only 8, so she wanted to go to Lookout Nobb for a little while. Lookout Nobb was a hill that overlooked the entire city and a popular place for the young people to hang out. On this night, we found ourselves alone and Janice was a bit persuasive. Of course, I was more than willing to fulfill her desires, except she insisted we make love standing up. Needless to say, I didn't want to seem insensitive but expressed my doubts that was possible, since she had no legs. Janice said that she had built up her upper body strength, since losing her legs, and if I could just take her to a certain tree, which had a low hanging limb, she could hold on and we could fulfill her fantasy. Everything went as planned, but by the time we were finished it as a quarter til 9, which meant we were going to be very late. I hurriedly placed her in the car and drove just as fast as I could, but arrived at her house at 9:20. I knew her dad was going to be furious, but to my surprise he came out smiling and greeted me like a long lost friend, shaking my hand and hugging my neck. All of this made me feel guilty for my actions, so I apologized for being so late. He slapped me on the shoulder and said, "That's okay, Son, I'm just glad you brought her home. Most of the other guys she's dated left her hanging on the tree and I'd have to go get her."

I'm snowed in. Perhaps later in the spring after the thaw.
