If you wanna learn japanese buy a japanese method and go see a teacher. If a 13yo kid is explaining the few words he knows from reading mangas on Youtube, he is not a teacher or a good source of information... But he might know a word you do not. That doesn't make him good, and that certainly doesn' give him the legitimacy to teach.
Is he wrong? Not if if he just explains a bit of vocabulary. But if he starts explaining the method he found in a book he paid then he is. And so are you, why would you use his information rather than go to the source? I was at a gig the other day and we were two magician for the evening. The other guy, a cardician, had learned everything on Youtube. His skill was rather good, but he had no patter for any of his trick other than "pick a card, right, look, it is in the deck, and now it has changed color. Waw" Because none of those kid will explain how to patter, the rythm and beats of a good routine, etc. No 10 minutes, or even 2 hours video can replace a 300 pages book. If it did none of our mentor would tell us to read books, because they could just feed us pre processed info... But yes, there are some vids explaning patter, routining etc. Read a few books, you will see where those are lacking. Just a thought. |

You can find many musical/instrumental effects described on youtube which somehow evade the copyrite laws. Just like the magic world, the youtube performer is often terrible... ie anybody with a computer can post. Fortunately, the difference is in the live improvisation. You might be able to transcribe John Coltrane's work; but there are precious few who can play or compose like he did. Lynn........ ps just an aside here, but I do appreciate the input of the VIP's in the Café.Thank you. Lynn |
