GeraintClarke talks about splitting, when You have 2 i.e. Kings to get a chance to get BJ.
You can do the same if You get 2 Aces... |

Similar approach to Weber's Red/Black, in many ways.

And it's credited as such.

I emailed Weber in mid 2015 to discuss the variation, and he emailed back asking for more details. I did so. Then I heard nothing from him. He's a busy man after-all. I did my own research in the next year and as Weber himself states in his Red Black 2.0, the method ISN'T his. It belongs to two gentlemen who published it in The Jinx 1-50 (Section "Winter Extra 1937/38")... Charles T Jordan and Laurie Ireland. As expected, I did my own crediting for the method and asked Denis Behr and Nathan Kranzo for any extra information I may have overlooked. My trick and Weber's trick are just two drastically different presentations that happen to use the same method. That method is credited and Weber is mentioned. NO FOUL PLAY HERE. Weber emailed me when I released this effect as he was concerned/assumed that he wasn't credited, but as he now knows from my email response, and from those who own the download, he's definitely credited and commended for his routine. WE ALL stand on the shoulders of giants and I respect him. Those who have bought the download will know that, but it was worth clearing it up here. Many thanks, - Geraint |

The shuffle when done by the performer is generally known as the Ireland shuffle (or Laurie Ireland, though originally in print by Jordan) and is the credit Geraint mentions, though the spectator doing the shuffle in the manner which Geraint (and Weber) have used is a Jerry Sadowitz idea from Cards on the Table, page 11, "A Million to One". Hopefully he is also credited.
The presentational approach of asking someone to deal down through a pack and removing a card whenever they want, and shuffling twice is part of the Weber effect (as well as the application to an OOTW). This approach has been taken here and applied slightly (not drastically) differently. |
