Yes, I know this is not a new topic, but unfortunately it seems like
Todd Lassen and Blathazarmagic doesn't produce handcraftet expanded shells at the moment. Todd Lassens commercial site doesn't respond and BMC writes on their homepage that they are taking a break. I'm looking for a well craftet shel that comes with 4 coins, where the shell fits perfectly. I already own a half dollar kennedy set, but I'm looking for 1 dollar size coins. Tried Johnson's product line, but they sell the shells seperately, so the 4 coins the fits perfectly into the coin doesn't follow along. Any good suggestions? Best regards Jan |

An expanded shell should fit any like coin. But to have the shell fit perfectly is another matter. That would generally take a custom made and matched shell with coins and depending on what coin you're using is the difference. Most craftsmen working with dollar size coins will be working with the older silver coins and talking some money for the sets.

Lassen doesn’t produce shells anymore? That doesn’t sound right. Are you talking of clad coins only? (non-silver stuff)
And Todd's post above has an incorrect link. Try this one instead: http://www.jbtvusa.com/index.php Jim |

The only difference with Lassen is regards the sound when you drop coins o ver the nest one (a more metallic sound). Other aspect is the finishing of the Schoolcraft shell, a little bit over sized when you compare it with Lassen (and under magnification). So, my overall advice is some people likes Audi other Mercedes-Benz......can't go wrong with Schoolcraft set neither Lassen or even Johnson Hope this info being useful Cheers! |

I just ordered a shell and some coin sets for my son from Jaimie. Had the within a week or so and the finish matched all my other walking halves. Depending on how busy he
is with other orders, you may get it very quick or if it's just a expanded walking shell you're looking for he stocks those or at least thad them in stock 2 weeks ago. I really have never heard Todd not take an order for an expanded shell or any coins for that matter. Give Jaimie a try, you'll be glad you didi. Mad Jake Jr.
