Just wanted to make everyone aware of a new release by J.D. Roberts ("Pit Boss" on the Café) called Subli-Mental. Using only 3 business cards and a pen, you can perform a Living and Dead variation in which you not only locate the "Living" name sight unseen, but are able to reveal the name itself as a kicker! This is a really cool routine which helps to get your business cards in the hands of participants.
I'm always looking for ways to use my business cards in strolling situations. This one is a winner. Here's what others are saying: Greg Arce: I can see this being something to easily carry around and perform at a moment's notice... a perfectly functional routine that I'm sure many will like to have in their arsenal. Christopher Caldwell: I think it's great! Bold, fun and easy to perform- just the way I like my mentalism. I am adding it to my impromptu repertoire immediately. Thank You! Everett T. Wade, Ph.D.: This is not an effect where a method is crammed into the logic of mind-reading, but rather a nice, straightforward, simple routine that can make a quick, strong impression. Because of this the method is quite hidden and natural. Ever Elizalde: I have to say I'm impressed with this routine. It is so clean and well thought out. Every movement looks completely natural. Most close-up pieces tend to come off as mental magic, because there's usually no time to set the scene appropriately. I feel this routine makes the effect look like the real deal. Can you provide some insight on how it's different than any other sneak thief variant?
|

NRmind: It's different in effect, as it's more of a demonstration of clairvoyance than psychometry. Also, it can be worked for one person if desired and the gathering of the info (the live name) is obtained, from the spectator's perspective, without the performer ever touching the card it's printed on.
I'll be happy to answer any other questions that I can, and thanks for your interest. JD |

I have received a few emails asking about sleights in this routine. There are none. There is a handling that must be followed, but no "secret moves" that you trying to hide from the spectators.
To those who have acquired this already, and have performed it, I'd love to hear how it's going. Thanks, JD |

I have a great fondness for simple, direct effects using business cards and really like Subli-mental. The working is not only straightforward - and well explained - but the effect has two satisfying impacts. First by demonstrating clairvoyance and correctly eliminating two of the three cards, but then revealing what is written on the remaining third card.
The routine is neat, well-structured and could be particularly ideal as a sort of effect you carry around with you and perform at almost a moments notice, whether on a one to one or in a parlour situation. In addition, you could easily alter the suggested theme to make it more suited to you and your style. This effect has a lot going for it and, at the price, is a bargain given its potential value and impact(s). |

Thanks Neil, glad you found it useful. It's moved up to number 3 on the Lybrary.com Magic and Conjuring hotlist. Thanks to all who have made that possible!

A pleasure - and good to see it is deservedly climbing the Lybrary Magic and Conjuring rankings.

Any chance of seeing a performance, or would that tip too much?

This is a great piece of mentalism. Everything is layered well. The main selling point here is clarity. Mentalism is unfortunately suffering from 'clarity' and often things get muddled up in the 'pursuit of fairness'.
A solid release! Great work JD! |

MSD921: Thanks for your interest. It's my belief that, given this routine's simplicity both in effect and methodology, a video demo might give away too much. I hope you understand.
ash2arani: Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. JD |

Woohoo! Subli-Mental has reached #1 on the Lybrary.com "Magic and Conjuring" hotlist, with purchasers in 13 different countries! I have no way of seeing their identities, but if you are one of them I just want to say "Thank You" for your support and I hope you are enjoying it!
