I understand that this is best suited for schools and shopping centers. However, has anyone actually tried it at a birthday party? Nick Britt above said he now offers it as an add on to his birthday party package but never actually said if he tried it. As a life long children's performer I know kids, and I am fearful of the "I know how to do that" and then go on to explain exactly how its done. That would make me angry.

Hi Ken, probably costing myself sales here, but I'd suggest that it's best done in a formal stage show environment - malls, camps, school assemblies that sort of thing - Nick uses a backdrop for his kids birthday parties I believe, so his performances might be a little more 'formal', even if it is a kid's birthday party show. You want that element of control, you can't just drop this thing into your case and get it out of sight once the performance is completed! So, it's possible, but you'd want to really monitor the conditions first.

I appreciate your honesty. Something that large is probably not practical for birthday parties no matter how deceptive it is. Sure, sometimes you'll run into situations where the room is large enough, but not too often.
Chris, while I have your attention, do you usually have these in stock and how long would it take to receive it? (I'm in the US)

Hi Ken, no worries I am trying to get them in stock, but so far I'm selling them before my build batches have been completed. I'm just starting on the next batch and I'm anticipating end October or into November before I would be done (they don't all complete at once, so some orders will be filled earlier than that). Once I ship it, it seems to be about a week on the turnaround. Some have been faster, but it's dependent on whether US Customs decide it sounds interesting enough to inspect... So, if it's in stock, you'd have it in a week or 2, but getting it in stock seems to be the very pleasant problem I currently have. If I can get it in stock, I'm not finalizing the artwork until it gets sold, that way you can get a choice of a number of different color schemes or also we can do something custom.

Your comment about using bigger props to compensate for other shortcomings, is, unfortunately, so true! Too many performers, can't seem to grasp the fact that ENTERTAINMENT, DOES NOT "COME" BY THE YARD, OR THE POUND! IT'S NOT THE "SIZE OR WEIGHT OF THE PROPS! IT'S NOT WHAT YOU DO, IT'S HOW YOU DO IT!

Has anyone from the UK got this? Just wondering about import fees, as they do tend to be high for goods shipped over from abroad.
Cheers. |
