Years ago I read a description to a card trick where a card is selected and then placed back into the deck. The spectator shoots an imaginary gun 1 to 6 times at the deck. When you go through the deck looking for their selection when you find it it has that many holes in their selection. Does anybody know the name of this trick or where to purchase it? Thanks.

Jon Allen has a similar effect on his "Connections" DVD vol 2. It is called "Lucky Card".
Spec picks a card by saying stop. He tells a story about being accidental shot last time he was in the US. He produces a deck where several cards have "bullet holes thru them" the first card without a hole matches the selection and is "his" lucky card.

Thanks for the comment. Although that sounds like an interesting effect, I am pretty sure it isn't the one I am looking for. For some reason I was thinking this was a Gordon Bean effect called "Mental Shot" but when I checked his website it wasn't on there. So the search continues. Thanks.

I was thinking of releasing my version of this effect if it differs from the one I am searching for, but I want to make sure the methods differ before I move ahead. Also would want to give credit to the other person as I came up with my method after reading their effect description. I just wish I could remember where I saw this. Any help is much appreciated.

I'm not sure of a marketed effect like that but I did a stand up version for years using a jumbo deck of cards and very realistic blank gun fired at deck as spectator held it above their head. On going through the deck one was found with the "bullet hole" in it;which of course ends up being the selected card. Complete with the burned edges around the hole. Not sure if that's kind of what you're referring to? If so you can PM me and I can share more.

Now, when you say "years ago", that might mean different things to different people...haha. Back in early/mid 1970s, there was a marketed effect called "Annie Oakley." As all effects back then, it was made in Fox Lake/bridge size cards and included a tiny cap pistol. Card selected (no force), replaced...you hold the deck and let the spectator fire the cap gun at the deck. When the deck is spread, backs up, one card is seen to have a hole (with burn marks on it)...turn it over and POW...it's the selected card.
Can't remember which company manufactured it. I still have it with instructions. Steve |

Steve,
Thanks for the response. I would say this item I saw was within the last 5-10 years. "Annie Oakley" sounds cool but the effect I saw let them shoot 1-6 times and that many holes appeared in their card. Pretty sure it isn't the same effect although I appreciate you bringing Annie Oakley to my attention. Best, Paul

That "Mental Shot" looks pretty cool (reading the description) is it on video anywhere?

YES dj that is it. I read the description and came up with my own method. I need to buy his and see how it differs from mine. Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure, but I believe that Aldo Colombini had a similar effect.

Magicbob has based a new card "illusion" on the famous "bullet catch" plot called "Make My Day."
The Effect: A signed card representing the magician is shown. A "blindfold" is tied over the "magician's" eyes. A toy gun is fired at the card. When the blindfold is removed, the picture on the card shows that he has caught the bullet. The procedure is repeated with a second spectator. When the blindfold is removed, the card now also has a real bullet hole! The card has both signatures on the back. It's in his newest "I Hate Card Tricks" card illusions book number 3 at The Magic Nook.
