A bad Idea who's time has come.
Very recently and very quickly the magic community has taken to requiring the downloading of instructions and videos. At the same time most newer browsers and disk drives do not allow recording of downloaded videos. This wouldn't be to bad if PDFs of written instructions were offered, but that entails to much work, easier to just show it once. Downloads of videos is pointless to many users without adding additional software and hardware.

Hopefully the reduced overhead equates to a reduced purchasing price.
I've considered using private youtube links to provide handling and options of routines, but for now I keep waffling between selling online or keep them a B.O.R. item. Playing Devils Advocate I would suspect it is also a way to prevent reproduction (or at least make it a bit harder) by (sadly) an ever growing portion of the magic community.

I guess they save money and "combat piracy" at the same time. Unfortunately, it does neither. They still have the cost of keeping an online site up to stream the "video's/instructions" you have purchased. This is why I tend to not buy from certain sites. One example, Dan and Dave (who I do buy from) sell streaming video instructions for effects on their "ArtOfMagic" website. Although they are a fairly "stable force" in the magic community, what if they did just walk away one day? Where do I get my videos that I purchased? They could do the right thing and open up all vids to be able to be downloaded and give customers notice to do it within a certain time....OR.... they could be under a true financial emergency and have to cease it all at once leaving you out in the cold. A few $5 - $40 videos don't seem like a huge deal if they were lost but that isn't really the point. If I bought it, I want the ability to enjoy it "OFFLINE" and forever - not just when I have a strong enough signal and until they decide to stop doing e-commerce. There are several sites out there that operate in this manner and for a lot, I avoid buying because they may not be established like Dan and Dave. So, they are actually losing money by not offering "offline viewing" because I will but elsewhere if they offer it. On the other hand, there are (both free and for sale) programs that allow you to record online videos. Much like taking a screenshot but a "video version" of a screen shot. There is always a way to work around things on the interwebs but why should we have to go to all the trouble just to learn a new version of the "Elmsley Count"?

Until yesterday I was able to download videos from D&D simply by clicking download on my torch browser. Yesterday all my Torch files disappeared and when I reload them nothing happens. It seems to be connected to something called Secure Browser, which looks like Microsoft, but isn't.

I understand there's a protocol to get back the downloading function of the browser, but you have to download the instructions.
