For those who have this, how is the quality of the cards? Most ESP Decks seem subpar when it comes to trying to shuffle or mix them.

I received this over the weekend and learned it within minutes of watching the video. Technically, this is probably one of the easiest effects you'll ever learn. While I was fully aware about the workings of the first phase, the second "numbers/prediction" kicker is absolutely wonderful. Here are the pros and cons if you're still on the fence:
1) It is not suitable for strolling due to the heavy reset. However, it will play nicely in casual settings. 2) The cards are nice quality and the packaging is terrific. Although, it would have been better if they included an actual card case to protect the cards. Note: I'll just be using an old box from another ESP deck. 3) A second effect is taught on the tutorial with regular playing cards that is quite nice. I do plan on giving it a try. 4) I wasn't fond of the "magicky" reveal card enclosed although some may like it. Instead, I will be jotting down my prediction on the back of a business card. 5) Most people will probably struggle adding up the numbers. Thankfully, today we have smart phones. And this could serve as excellent motivation for transitioning into something like Cipher or Wiki-Test since you will already have your phone on the table. I'd give this 4 out of 5 stars...I need to dock it one point for not including a card case. Note to manufacturer's. Although it looks great to receive something nicely packaged, most of us would prefer that the money be spent on cases or bags that protect the actual prop when working in the real world. |

Put this way I am sure it will fool some layman . If it does then you will slay them with anything else you do as if they don’t work this out you are on to a massive home run with your remaining set . It may be that simplistic it just works the KISS principle at its finest Gaz 🙂

Here is a subtlety that might help disguise the method for the first phase.
You can have the participant select the first card and turn it face up. Challenge her to continue selecting cards without hitting a duplicate. The succeeding cards are left face down, but you offer to assist and peek at the next selected card. You miscall and say, "Sorry, you are new at this, I will give you another try," and have her pick a different card. You could do this on the second or third deal and then say, "OK, you're on your own from here, I won't help you any more." You then get three reveals: 1. That she succeeded in getting 5 cards without any matches 2. That she managed to get the sequence to match the sequence "subliminally" suggested by the "sample" designs you wrote out at first 3. That the number matches your prediction or that she got a great score, depending on how you want to handle the number. Also, if you use a set of colored ESP cards, you could even get one additional hit: She managed to get only ONE of each color! Finally, the suggestion that the participant can cut the cards and you can start the sequence at any point only works for Phase 1, but could mess up the matrix force in phase 2 if the cut falls is in the middle of one of the sets. The participant could end up selecting two numbers from the same set. If you want to allow the participant to cut, you could use a short card to return stack to the proper setting. As for the "score" idea... You could start with a series of simple psychological forces to "test" her ability and suggest that she will get a high score, then write what you think her score might be on the back of the card. I think that was what was suggested earlier by "asking some questions" to assess the participant's psychic ability. You could even write a score 2 off from the total and have another card indicating, "you will be off by 2", but that might just muddy the clarity of the effect. Just some ideas for you all to consider. Cheers. |

The probalem with the 65 total - is that it's a second phase reveal that feels cheaper, because ESP signs having numbers on doesn't seem 'normal' - so the ESP reveal feels like it could be real... but the numbers adding up takes this to a cheap parlour trick The way around the "cheapness" would be to take out a billet or pad at the beginning and draw everything up front. Draw the symbols that end up being the correct order and the number, etc. Don't say it's a prediction, you're just drawing the symbols, etc. THEN at the end it all matches. Because you drew it and it's not printed it's less cheap and "packaged" looking. |
