Hello. I have no idea where to put this. I like cards so here is my question:
I see that one can get every issue of Magic Magazine (1991 - 2016) in a searchable format. Would anyone know if somewhere on this cool forum someone might have compiled a list of the "Best of?" There is a "Jinx Companion" that is exactly what I am looking for. And while I am at it perhaps other collections such as Hugard's? Many thanks! And if this is way off may I ask a moderator to move it please... |

Lybrary.com has Jinx on cd as well as full compilations of Magic Magazine (all issues) and Genii, the first 75 years. These are just the compilations I know of. The site may have more.
http://conjuringarts.org/ has a few too - http://shop.conjuringarts.org/store/pc/Magazines-c53.htm

I think he means a collection of the "Best of..." a particular publication, in this case Magic Magazine. Maybe.

Hey there fish! Take the high road man.
Everyone, I did not do a good job of explaining. I own many digital compilations (during the binge phase). And it is daunting to look at probably hundreds of periodicals. The folks who wrote "The Jinx Companion" collected their idea of "the best of." And no, it might not be "my best of." But it's a start. Occasionally in a forum post someone will provide a List (it is capitalized because it can be any list) of interesting things. Mats did/does it with the faro. It's a book now. And yes Phil Pearce, thank you - exactly right and MAGIC is certainly one of the periodicals. Bdakota, that is a fiercely good idea. But... not in my direction. Thank you for the tip though. Chris, thanks. Virtually all my compilations came from you. Your store adds so much to the art! The examples you give are spot on, but not the magazines I am looking for. Your site has that great search engine. I can try that. This might mean a lot of searching, but it might produce some gold. I will continue to look. Thank you to everyone who responded. Everyone have a great weekend. |

Here is another 'best of' from magazines I completely forgot. Brick Tilley picked the 70 best effects, tips, tricks from several magazines. It does include Genii and Magic and others: http://www.lybrary.com/70-top-effects-fr......849.html
I guess this is more along the lines of what you are looking for.

I think Joshua Jay tended to write a year-end roundup highlighting his favorite items from that year's Talk About Tricks column in MAGIC magazine.
He also rounded up a lot of them on this DVD set: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1664 |
