There are production silks out there saying "Happy Birthday", "Merry Christmas", etc. I wonder if anyone knows where to find a silk reading "Congratulations". Thanks!

Hello Kenno,
I don't think so...At least I've never seen a silk like this in a classic magic shop anywhere in the world... You should try to contact Bob Sanders here on the forum. He sells high quality "silks" (I prefer to use the term handkerchief) and I'm sure he can custom make a "Congratulations Silk" for you in the size and color you need. Oliver. |

I'm also not aware of a standard "Congratulations" silk.
To add to the list, Wonder Imagery (Tim Sonefelt) also makes custom silks. - Donald

Learning to paint on silk is not difficult and is a skill which, once acquired, frees you to make many silk effects not available to those who can only buy ready-made silks. This company has everything you need to get started: https://www.dharmatrading.com/techniques......ing.html
You can't buy one of these anywhere, but like Qua-Fiki, you can learn to paint one of your own. This is Qua-Fiki's "Mis-Made Jack" from The Wizards' Journal #21. By comparison a "Congratulations" silk is a snap!

I think I painted a "congradulations" silk once. I hate to paint two. It just did not look right? Then I realized I had mispelled "Congradulations". I was not laughing at the time as it is a lot work but I can look back now and laugh it about it.
One of the problems is the word is so long that you have to use a pretty good sized silk to make the letters big enough to be seen. I don't believe it has ever been commerically printed as there is not that high of a demand for them. Even the Rice message silks were not in high demand, but Harold Rice printed them up none the less. Ruth Rice Crone is still selling them. Not a big demand for the "Elks" silks .

Consider instead, painting "Congratulations!" (spelled correctly!) on a rainbow streamer that stretches across the stage or is held aloft on poles like Qua-Fiki's "Fish or Cut Bait" streamer shown below.

Many message silks you can easily make yourself. The trick is clean silk, REAL Sharpie pens, and an embroidery ring.
Catch me at a silk lecture and I'll show you. PS --- It also works for company logos. |
