What are your opinions on this site? http://www.psipog.net and some of the videos. I am myself a bit skeptical. Personally, I thought the watch one was great. Even if it is a fake. Makes me want to dust off Penomenon. If I had a video camera I'd suggest a best fake PK video competition. We ought to be able to put those guys to shame. |

I thought I would check out the PSIPOG site and see if all my practice was for nothing. To get a flavor of the quality of instruction, this is the first paragraph on how to do telepathy:
Of all the psionic abilities, telepathy is probably the most widely known and most often practiced, so much so that its existence is regarded as a complicating factor in ESP and remote-viewing experiments: the scientists have to exclude telepathy when trying to prove or disprove clairvoyance. Telepathy, in various forms, shows up in any number of popular science fiction and fantasy books, movies, and television programs: Star Trek, Elfquest, X-Men. This is the most sensible part of the instruction! Oops, gotta go. I've got the Face on Mars on the other line. |

I *do* believe in God, but I have problems with some of his groundcrew, and good old Benny is one of them. I don't think God is that greedy as Mr Hinn seems to be, but what do I know? Perhaps Benny is all right, but I fail to see it. Perhaps the film team was stooged, but I cannot see the point in this, since Mr Hinn wasn't exactly portrayed in a good light on the aired show. Why would he set up a stooged film-team then, if it would result in bad publicity for himself? Doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps I use the word perhaps too much? // d |

There's no reason that a member of the film crew couldn't get caught up in the emotion of the moment. They may have also decided that some mystery would make for more compelling viewing of the program. Remember that many in TV believe that it is most important to have a compelling program, not that they be completely factual. The promise of being on TV if they would go with the flow might be enough to get a crew member to "feel the power."

I see your point and that *is* a possible explanation.

I actually think that that is very unlikely. They are the film crew, being on TV probably means very little to them, especially if it means they are going to have to fall on the floor to get there.
So a few possible explanations: a) They were simply taking the p***. b) They were subject to an electronic gimmicked stunt. c) They were hypnotised, or gave in to peer pressure. d) They experienced a spiritual influence which was not from God. If I were you, I would give Benny Hinn a wide berth. There are many sites on the web which give insight into the nature of him and his work.

What a fun thread!
Greg A: "If memory serves me he was trying to nudge the table to see if he could see a difference in movement from the canisters." Nudge the table - clever! I have a manuscript that teaches the method that Geller supposedly used for this. The manuscript also teaches how to do a drawing duplication with the original drawing wrapped in tin foil by the participant. Good stuff. "If I had a video camera I'd suggest a best fake PK video competition. We ought to be able to put those guys to shame." I'm having a flashback to when Penn and Teller were on Saturday Night Live. They did a bit where objects flew up - and they exposed it. They were suspended upside down! Pure genius. And on the Peter Poppoff thing, buy or rent Steve Martin's (not the one who posted right above me!) movies Leap of Faith. This movie does a brilliant job of laying bare Poppoff's methods. As for why debunking doesn't work, I believe it is down to marketing. For example, there is a medication which every doctor I could find says is bunk. BUT the company has a glitzy website, has spent millions in TV ad campaigns, has their product distributed in almost every pharmacy in the nation, has a panel of doctors who say it is a miracle drug, and a load of positive testimonials. So the company is very successful. Naturally, the testimonials from people who wound up in the hospital due to this drug do not make it on their website. - Greg Owen

It could mean that the crewperson keeps their job if the person in charge of the video wanted to spice it up. If a crewmember wants to be requested on other shoots they are not going to be overly argumentative.

Of course it's entirely possible that PSI actually exists. I certainly can't 'prove' that it doesn't.
And strangely enough I don't think anyone else can. Ouch! Stings a little, huh?

The key to real cloudbusting is as follows and I quote
"Click your amygdala forward, and make sure you are in a positive and open state of mind. This is important. If your amygdala is clicked backwards and in a negative and/or closed state of awareness, forget it, this won't work. " Now my amygdala squeeks rather then clicks, maybe I need brain lubricant. Like it was said before, there will be, even in magic, people who believe in the supernatural and those who do not. Even as a reader I am skeptical. Today I had some amazing hits, but I really think it was due to guaging age and appearance of the sitter and expounding upon those clues, not psychic powers. BUT, I have seen things happen I can not explain. So I'll just sit up on the fence and stay wishy washy about it. Never say never.... :bat:: "For it shows things that were, and things that are, and things that yet may be. But which it that he sees, even the wisest cannot always tell" ~Galadriel "A heretic is a man who sees with his own eyes." |
