It seems like they release 1 - 2 videos a week.
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/9205 Ad copy: Money flies INVISIBLY from your hand, to your spectator's TIGHTLY CLENCHED FIST. The entire bar erupts into applause and you barely get out of there with your clothes intact. You'll never leave home without this trick. 1. Even if you have potatoes for hands, not to worry -- this trick takes literally zero skill. I know some tricks say that, when in fact they take very little skill.. but this one is truly self-working. 2. This trick doesn't destroy money. Some money tricks require you to cut, rip or somehow damage money, and it's usually well worth it. But with this trick you can relax.. if you run out of money you can easily spend your gimmick. 3. Takes up no space. Stick it in your wallet and you'll have a serious miracle on you wherever you go. PROFESSIONALS: This trick works with any type of money, and actually any pieces of paper really... It doesn't matter if your bills are a different size because the trick uses all the same denomination. |

These downloads are killing me. It's quite a lot of money when you add them up. Wish we could pay a monthly fee, and watch all of them.

I bought it out of curiosity - I think its very smart and straight forward... very easy DIY...and a nice logical presentation...

I also picked this up as I'm a fan of Alex's work.
I've played with a similar idea using Richard Sander's "Extreme Burn" to produce a fifty-fifty influence style routine. I like this solution MUCH more. Easy in construction and execution; the bills aren't destroyed; and the display is very convincing. Nice little buy at $4.95. Best, Drew

Will this work for plastic currency?

It should - the biggest consideration is that the currency you use is all the same size (which should be a given if you use all the same denomination).
Best, Drew

I get MUCH more value from my $4.95 or $7.95 a few times a week from penguin downloads even if I only watch the video once and never perform the trick. But a monthly subscription fee would be an interesting thought. I pay monthly for Chordify and a few other guitar teaching websites. maybe someday. I think penguin will get more money by not have a subscription model. And to say if the model was say $20 a month, who would do it? But most of us spend more on individual downloads I would presume. I believe they know they are going to get the money, regardless, from downloads. And, yes, make more as well.

How can you go wrong? Covers everything and more in detail. From a mentalist perspective this is a great addition to any "which hand is it in" routine. Simple to make and handles naturally and is totally convincing. A great buy.

Played around with this and you can easily do a bill transposition rather than a bills across. A stack of $5s are shown and a stack of $10s. Place the $5s in your wallet and like that, the stack of 10s change places.

Doesn't look very magical to me. The bills seem to be counted very tightly by the magician into his own fist. The fact the countings are not done very openly doesn't help the effect to look clean. The two girls sitting at the table don't seem to find it very impressive either. Their reaction seems to mean more "nice one" that "oh my god". Anyway, the most important is if people who bought it like it.

I've been wanting to do a bills across ever since about ten years ago some random guy I never met dropped by my local IBM ring and fried me with his handling of it. I've looked into many methods but never found found one that was good enough for the level I strive to perform at. When penguin released transfer and wrote "The best bills-across ever created? Yes, because you're going to stick it in your wallet and DO IT ALL THE TIME" I was excited.
However, in my opinion the thing that sells a bills across (or cards across for that matter) is the fact that at some point the spectator counts the bills so you know that he isn't simply hiding the other two bills behind or between the three that he's showing, because honestly that is what everyone is going to suspect. They may not say it, but they are thinking it (The Jerx has a wonderful post on this). I'm not saying that all tricks have to be inspectable, I'm just saying a cards or bills across must have a component that's inspectable in order to be convincing. Ultimately, I'm not interested in doing a not so convincing bills across. I know that the displays are pretty good, and I'm happy with them, but ultimately they're not going to stop spectators from thinking that you're secretly hiding the other bills. All this being said, the teaching is great. Alexander explains everything really well, and I'm sure you'll have no problem performing this. The other tricks are decent (with the exception of the exceedingly dumb bank night idea. The trick itself is decent but there is absolutely nothing added by throwing in the gimmicked bills). If you are okay with doing a bills across that isn't inspectable at any point then you will love this trick. It just isn't for me. Unfortunately my search for a good bills across will continue although I do appreciate that Alexander has given me a new way to look at tacking the idea. Perhaps someday I'll be able to make a variation of this work. |
