A new download from the Legends series (?). I guess you can call it a series since this is their 3rd one. Wonder how many they have in total.
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/9492 Ad copy: "Just plain crazy in a VERY good way." -Dick McCune As you tell a funny sitcom-style story about two sliiightly sleazy brothers, their wives and a couple cute redheads at a bar... the cards in your hand START CHANGING to match the words of your story. This happens over, and over again, and the reactions get BIGGER each time. Here's why this card trick is awesome. 1. People think you're hiding like 20 cards in your hands, so when you let them examine the 4 cards at the end their brains explode. 2. You just get right into it! There's no need to have anyone pick a card, or think of a card. People can just watch you perform. 3. It looks so innocent, no funny moves just some storytelling. The choreography of this trick is INGENIOUS. 4. It uses ordinary cards you already have. No need for fancy magic cards, you'll be able to perform this for the rest of your life anywhere you go. |

OH GOD!!! what did I just watch... Oh my eyes...
Seems Ammar has forgotten his own teachings. In Easy to Master Card Miracles Vol.3 where Ammar teaches this 20 years ago he makes a HUGE DEAL that John Hamman demanded that "Every move in the routine should be done without any get b***ks and card should always be allowed to fall flat"... Now Ammar has totally butchered this routine with b***ks and b***le get readies... Twins is one of the strongest routines ever and I have done it +20 years on every gig so please please please... If you want to learn it don't buy this one but get Hamman original book, Ammar Easy to master 3 or Bill Malone version that has the definite ending and much better story than this monstrossity... Not the smoothest I've seen but hardly butchered.
I'm not sure why the ad copy says you have them examine the four cards at the end. I think it's important that the spectators not have that bit of extra information. However, they can certainly examine the entire deck after you give a quick shuffle. |

Seeing some of these recent demos by Michael Ammar has genuinely caused me concern about his health.
Maybe he’s just rusty on these routines, at least I sincerely hope that’s all it is. |

Good ole' Dick McCune, there's a guy you can trust.
Ammar should release the Vernon routines altogether as a pack, i.e Twisting the Aces/Poker Deal/Triumph/Color Changing Deck/Out of Sight, Out of Mind/Queens Soiree |

Yes he looks a bit nervously and hands are a bit shaking.

Then he put them in the deck & shuffled & said here , find them.' He said it jokingly. Always went over big. I have been doing it ever since. Love it. I know it as Gemini Twins. |

There's Brother John Hamman's "The Twins" and Karl Fulves' "Gemini Twins".
Two different tricks. Mike |

Just to add to the confusion, there's Darwin Ortiz's Jumping Gemini which is a similar sort of plot.
I always though this one was an odd inclusion in the ETMCM series. It is anything but "easy to master". (it also looks like it's fairly easy for it to go rusty...) |

Michael didn't seem his normal super smooth self during that performance which was a pity, but I've learned that much brlliant Magic from Michael over the years and had the pleasure of watching him lecture live a few times that I think I can let him off this once for a not so smooth performance

Apparently he is re-realising every trick in the Easy To Master collection as a "single"...
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death my right to say "scr*w you" if you persist. [Voltaire ]

I agree. Seems to be the wave of the future. I love Michael. He's been incredibly nice to me when we've met or sessioned over the past 30 years, but everyone should just go buy all the ETMCM dvds from L&L for $10 each and skip these single downloads.

I know I have made minor mistakes like this in my career. What I really can't believe is that whoever (I would assume Penguin, but it may be an Ammar production being sold thru them) could not take the time to shoot each trailer a few times and / or edit out the blatant mistakes. On Jan 30, 2018, paperinick wrote: I agree with this also and as long as people throw their money away on these using the "Low Price for a Great Effect", They will keep pumping these out one at a time. In my opinion though, they are taught very well, if not - better on the older dvds and I have to believe, the originals are so good, there is very little to no room for improvement. Now, before the backlash begins from my wording of "throwing their money away", understand EXACTLY what "I" meant by that. Even the $5 intro price for one effect is half the price you could get a Full Easy to Master Card Miracles dvd for on sale. The sales happen VERY often but you must be on L&L's Email list to be informed and get the sale "code". I also suggest you get on the L&L ePub email list as they sell the dvd as a download rather than a physical dvd for pennies on the dollar during their sales (again, quite often). Therefore, you are paying $5 for one effect (and I agree they are fantastic, hard hitting effects that are taught well) BUT.... Each of the 9 vols contains 9 (only one vol) 10 (most) 11 (two vols) and 12 (one vol). So, for another $5, you could get that same "Legends effect" plus 8 - 11 more (probably soon to be "Legends Effects". Like I stated before, I do not mind supporting our many mentors out there and I even do the "double buy" from time to time but do the math before you go all-in on these single releases.

I didn't buy the download but have been performing this routine since the ETMCM release. Firstly, I'm surprised that Michael elected to perform this seated rather standing. The sleights in this particular routine are much easier to perform while standing. I also agree with what others have said about the smoothness that made Michael so highly regarded seems to be lacking. Maybe his health is of concern and that's the reason for these downloads. Most full-time magicians don't exactly have the best health coverage options.

The performance is fine. IF you're a doctor and IF you spot something important I would suggest you contact the person privately rather than speculating in a public forum. What is the value of speculation beyond starting unfounded rumours?

It didn't seem very smooth, and I thought, "What did I just watch?" Though it seems most of his recent video effects being released are all performed to the same three "audience" members at the table? So, maybe the idea was, "Let's find a group, and if it's one take, it's one take." And, maybe they got it all in that one take? |
Chamberlain Special user 629 Posts |
Was probably the first group he approached and he was a little nervous, happens to all of us. I'm sure if he had been performing for a few hours before filming he would have been more relaxed.
