Hello people,
I was surfing amazon, searching for magic books when I found that: https://www.amazon.it/Mnemonica-Inglese-......Src=srch It is a copy of mnemonica by Juan Tamariz priced over 4000 euro! Has it really that price, or the seller was a little drunk? I ask that because I have got a copy of that same book! Thank you Mic |

Sellers can ask any price they want.
Finding a buyer willing to pay that price is a different matter entirely. The fact that the book is still listed as available is a good clue that nobody is buying at that price. |

Mnemonica English version start to sell since 2004 and recent 2 years it seems Hermetic press is out of stock and the resale price start jumping up, hope it will reprint soon and definitely some magic shop still have stock.
All in all, 20 effects in the book already release in terms of DVD format by Dan and Dave through 'Mnemonica Miracles' so even the book itself is the best source to learn everything of Mnemonica it is not the only source the learn now. Also not to mentioned that Pit Hartling released his take on Memorize deck magic by his book 'In order to Amaze' 2 years ago and it contains some of the best application of stack independent effect, plus some really amazing use of Mnemonica as well for your consideration.
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

From what I've been told by various folks, it will be reprinted soon. My guess is it will be available for around $65 USD.
I'm also guessing whoever is trying to sell it for 4000 Euro is hoping someone is rich and stupid.

It is in fact being reprinted. I picked up a used copy in great condition a little over a month ago for $60.00 right here on the Café (you need 50 "legitimate posts" to acess the buy / sell section of the Café)
Those people on Amazon and Ebay asking over $3,000.00 are not going to get it (but they can dream all they want). I cannot see paying that for a pristine 1st ed after many years. There are better books out there that really are OOP and probably never will see print again that still only get 250 - 500 dollars from "collectors".

Fine, I got the point, thank you all!
For a moment I thought I had a little treasure in my book shelf; now I know the sad truth! |

You DO have a “Treasure” on your bookshelf, and that should be a “happy” Truth. The content in this book is certainly priceless and if you keep it in great condition, years from now when the second printing is sold out (and I would bet it will). You will then have a “Collectable First Edition”.

Terminology tip: Unless major editorial changes occur (ie, major changes are made to the text), they're all the same edition.
So this new printing might be a second or third printing, but it's still the first edition. |

Haven't gotten around to it yet since I got something from Penguin in June and got the June PMM as soon as the July PMM is ready and shipping I'm going to get one of these. Oh I got a copy of memory arts a while back from VI once I get Mnemonica I hope to do a discuss the differences -- but If someone else wants to start the discussion go for it!

I never got the chance to buy this the first time round so I’m glad it’s been reprinted. Ive only read the first few chapters and am really impressed with all the methods he suggests to use to learn the stack, especially the singing idea!

Does anyone know if there is any meaning to the musical notes inside the cover of the new version of this book from penguin?
I haven't finished the book so I may have info coming. Anyhow the notes look important but I'm not making any connections. The only musical thing I can see so far is the auditory method of memorizing the deck. Actually now that I look at it a bit more the suits of the notes are the suits of cards in the order of the deck ....I wonder if there is a connection between the note position and the card value. I'm going to keep working it. But if someone knows anything I'm interested. |

Actually it seems the suits only follow so far --- might just be a big nothing burger

Side note: making up a song as a mnemonic for memorizing the stack was way harder than brute force memorizing the deck for me, I went with the latter. LoL. |
