Ok, I'm not really sure how to use this, but I thought it was interesting, so I figured I'd share it with the brilliant minds here in Penny For Your Thoughts.
http://www.kabalarians.com/cfm/Your.cfm At the bottom of the page there is a place to put in your first name and it tells characteristics of that name. I assume its based on the same principles as most cold reading/tarot/numerology/astrology, but the few 'readings' I did on my name and a couple friends seemed pretty accurate. I don't know, I just wanted to stimulate some brainstorming about the uses of this engine, or if you think its a complete waste of time when the same effects can be produced with a smaller set of variables (sun signs). Maybe like, a party setting, you ask someone who that girl is over there and then you approach and say something like... "Is your name Jessica?" and she'll say "Uh.. Yeah? Do I know you?" and you could just tell her some of the qualities of the name Jennifer and why you thought that was her name. (Sorry, just brainstorming here.) I believe that there's some inherant magic in a name that adds a dimension to magic - like signing the ambitious card. One time, I was at a large party and was introducing myself to a girl and I didn't catch her name, so I said "Jennifer?" (which is what I thought she said) and she was like "OH MY GOD, Jennifer is my middle name!! How did you know?" She followed me around for the rest of the night. |

Actually, Lithix, I quite like this idea.
Just enter a few of the most popular names and learn their characteristics. You then have an instant character analysis reading that you could use in any of your shows. I've no idea how it works although numerology would be a possibility. There are plenty of stock reading lines in there. However, I entered my own name and then someone who I knew was completely different to me. Not only were the two readings fairly accurate, they were also completely different to each other as well. In other words, I couldn't find any attributes in the second name that matched me at all. So, "Barnum Statements" they certainly are not. This is a tool that I am going to use a lot. Thanks for the link |

The reports duplicate often, if you use it enough that is. Seems like cold reading.

How about this one:
http://www.subservientchicken.com/ I mean, there could be thouands of people viewing the site at once and the chicken does what each person asks. Quite the mystery... Also, to Zodiac's point, the Name site has the following: ***Names with identical descriptions*** As you view various names, you may come across certain names which have the same description, for example, David and Steven. The explanation is that the names reduce to the same numerical formula. However, two people, one with the first name of David and the other with first name of Steven, would not have exactly the same characteristics or personality. A person's surname(s), other nicknames, and the date of birth all contribute to the many differences between individuals. These various additional factors strengthen or diminish the first name qualities. - Greg Owen

Popularity, Meanings, Mythology Highly Recommended. Have fun! Cheers - El Lamo

Lmao - that chicken link is crazy. There's a lot of good ideas in here guys... but I'm too distracted by playing with the chicken right now to think of anything new.

I think I remember some old code called "Eliza", which was basically a text parser that seemed like it could carry on a conversation based on what you asked it. It scans the text you input, identifying certain nouns and verbs, then plays the video loop that seems to most logically match your input based on a series of IF->THEN questions. If no suitable videos are found, then it plays a standard loop, or one of the chicken shaking his finger No-No in the camera. Also, if you mention "Burger King" you get a thumbs up... but you also get a thumbs up for "Burger King Sucks." And I still haven't figured out why "Go to Taco Bell" makes him dance with some cute girl that comes on from off camera. |
