I am looking for some ideas on how you would play a game of chance if you know the number the person would bet on in a game of roulette.
If I decide NOT to include a free choice, I could use LOTTO VISION which I already have converted to a 1-36 layout and force number 14 for example. But I have ample peeking devices so they can pick any number to bet on. Current idea(s) so far disc that looks like roulette wheel I clearly show how I can make ball move ( magnetic) I pretend to to rotate behind my back |

Show a deck of cards with numbers 0 - 35 on them
Maybe green 0 And red and black numbers as per the roulette wheel 'shuffle' them - and randomly draw a card... you turn over 14... and they reveal they picked 14 Or you get them to stop anywhere and deal - they turn over 14 - and you reveal you predicted 14 Yeah it's a crad trick But I always like taking them away from the normal deck of cards |

In Wizards' Journal #31, Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki shows ways of using wind-up toys to run along a track of playing cards OR to run around a clock or Zodiac or any circle to select a particular predicted outcome. He didn't include a roulette wheel because it was designed for children's magic, but there's no reason why a roulette wheel can't serve as the disc around which either a wind up toy or a magnetic ball can revolve.
In my e-Book "Clown Phobia" from The Wizards' Journal #30, I show how to use a home-made spinning top can be used to select a given color or design. Again this could easily be adapted to a roulette wheel that spins like a top, and always lands on the number of YOUR choice.

Duster,
Thank you for your idea and I actually have cards like that and if there were no other card effects in my set, it would work perfectly. jimgerrish, Can you kindly pM me on how I could purchase that? Other ideas could be a calculator where they clock me and name the number where ball leaves my hand then ask how times ball does full revolutions, ect.... Or I could use a Becker ploy where they THINK they are putting a sticker on a wheel but it is really clear and I have loaded a white one on the number. |

So, I have two thoughts on this.
First, you could modify a clock (or create a clock type disc) to look like a roulette wheel and do a modified version of Osterlind's watch routine where a second spectator spins the hand without looking and lands on the correct number. Second, and this isn't exactly playing a game of chance necessarily, but you could try to send multiple numbers to the spectator and play up the improbability of guessing all of them correctly (getting 3 numbers on a double zero board would be a 1 in 54,872 chance!) then produce a picture of one of those signs from next to the roulette table that shows the previous numbers hit and the numbers on the sign match the numbers the spectator chose. I saw a video of a time prediction that was revealed as a picture of a digital alarm clock. For the life of me I can't remember where I saw it or who did it (I think it was a Penguin Live, maybe?) Anyhow, that's the method I would use. Making up the picture of the sign would be easy enough in Photoshop. |

Quade Walker,
Thank you! I could do something with a dry erase where I mark the correct number, pretend to rub it off then cover with thumb then let them do like you say or just cover whatever they did... thatmichaelguy, Clever idea...... |

Don't forget the betting table:
An image like this could be easily printed on a card, and replace an image of the wheel in most cases. In some presentations this might even be more logical, and for some methods it might be more practical. For example, I would rather do a covert marking on a grid like this than a circle, but it's probably a matter of preference as well. It also gives you a chance to pay with the odd/even red/black style bets, if that interests you. Just another option for your brainstorming.
