Yes my friends in magic . thanks for figuring out where the routine of Eric Jones is. Another good point. Since flippers normally come in Kennedy halves, instead of asking for spectators to "examine them" you can palm the fl....er coin and hand the other coins out with an extra half to ask them if they have seen these US coins. it is a perfect ploy for them to check them out without making it obvious. then you pocket one of the ones they handled and bring in the palmed coin. they never even suspect it.
I have learned that as magicians sometimes we make things obvious because we stress the exact opposite of what is truthful. so a smart spectator will often reverse the thought and suspect something . if we mask what we are doing with a little subtlety, they don't seem to see anything coming. just saying, and it took me while to learn this principle from experience. does anyone else have any thoughts on this? |

I think what you're saying is a variant of don't run if you're not being chased --- by taking off running you draw attention to yourself. Always much easier to allow a spectator to convince themselves of something through their own assumptions than trying to "prove" it to them. |

If it's worth doing it's worth doing well. Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield (U.K.) in 1746
