I pride myself on being honest with my reviews here on the Café. I was given a review copy of this
I would like to lead by saying, I think Fraser has had some great ideas--especially lately. I think he has been on a roll. Second Coming was an incredible piece of work with loads of workable material. Sadly, I feel this falls short. I simply don't think it is a workable idea. And by that, I literally mean I don't think it works. I tried it on my girlfriend. Failed miserably. I tried again being more explicit with my instructions; it still didn't work. I think the problem with this is that the verbal linguistics aren't clear enough for the participating spectator. The DR employed is very difficult for the spectator to follow and understand. If you read the script verbatim, odds are, the spectator won't even latch onto the DR. There's a fine line between being subtle with the DR and the DR being nonexistent. Usually, Fraser does a great job of balancing this beautifully. In this case, I'm afraid it's the latter of the two. The book even admits that it could easily fail and it's suggestion is to simply say, "this hasn't worked," and move on to something else non card related. Besides the verbal flaws, the physical flaws are present as well. The deck must be arranged before the trick. It's not a full deck stack, but it is a stack that renders the deck unusable because of the nature of the deck. But after the trick, you could certainly use the cards for any trick you'd like. Ultimately, it is fascinating to read the method and see how far Fraser attempts to push the envelope with the linguistic ploys. Many times, he is able to achieve some phenomenal results with just his words. I'm afraid this one falls short for multiple reasons. It is fascinating to read, though. It gives you some perspective into Fraser's mind and his willingness to take it as far as he can. Better luck next time, Fraser! I have faith the next release will be bigger and better! Madison |

Thanks Madison.
It is better to think a bit more before releasing stuff.

This is an open letter and is only based upon comparing your advertisement with the review from Madison The advert says -“ A shuffled deck is placed on the table “ but the review says the deck is stacked ! Therefore are you saying you use a false full deck shuffle ? If so how do you justify in saying the effect is simple and nearly self working ??? The advert says minimal linguistics but the review is in conflict with that statement ?? Now this is the one which gets me the most . You state the effect is nearly self working ... This in my mind means the effect works nearly 100% of the time . However if the review is to be taken as accurate you state in the book that the effect can easily fail !! Fraser how often do you actually perform the effect ? You value the effect greatly limiting it to only 100 copies if you are at Minds this year are you happy to performs this to several attendees including myself ? .. if it is nearly self working then this should be no problem and I will be happy to write on the Café a full review of how many times it worked . I look forward to your answers to the questions put here regards Andrew |

Some ideas are just that...ideas. And ideas would be provided to the communities arena of ideas.
Kind of like open source computer programs. Everyone can take the code and use it as is or improve upon it and offer their improvements. Whereby making an idea better and better. That's my idea anyway. |

Andrew,
Fraser teaches how to do it from a shuffled deck in two ways. One requires a switch. The other does not. The effect is selfworking in that there’s no sleight of hand. It’s only sleight of mouth. So in theory, if it worked reliably, you can just say the script and it would work by itself without you ever moving a muscle. Madison |

Hi Madison
Thanks for your feedback . In my opinion having multiple effects in a book and cherry picking good bits from each to describe one effect is misleading advertising . I understand your view on verbal self working but I could argue the holy grail of ACAAN is just that . Madison please think of a number , now a card and deal down to that card. I never touch the deck and no sleight of hand involved . When it works it is self working you followed my verbal script but probability says my chances of that happening are very slim . I am still interested in Fraser answering honestly what his success rate is with the effect . Regards Andrew |
